Default Yet Another US 6 - PA Ride Endorsement

Just got back yesterday from a ride across PA on Rt. 6. Left Harrisburg on US 322, went all the way to Andover, Ohio (left 322 near Meadville and turned West on PA 285) and picked up 6 for the ride back East. Not much to add about Rt. 6 that hasn't already been said, but 322 was a nice ride with some great scenery and lots of neat little towns along the way. Lincoln Highway is next, then the National Highway (but not this year).

You're talking my part of the country. Isn't it great to look in the rearview mirror and see nobody. The weather was perfect last week too.

3 days, 2 nights, me and 2 buddies rode all over PA this past weekend. 15 up to Wellsboro, 6 West to Smethport, 46 south to 120 south. Stopped and checked out all these little backroads as well. 120 completly kicked *** !

The northern tier of Pennsylvania has many great roads. A few weeks ago my wife and two other couples left Selinsgrove to Forest Hill (RT 192 through Raymod B. Winter Park). 477 to Mill Hall, 120 North out of Lock Haven (Stopped at Hyner View State Park. Saw a bear cub cross the road in front of us.The view is awesome.) Stopped for a drink in Renovo continued north on 120 to 555 west through Pennsylvania Elk country. Stopped at Dubois Harley Davidson (which by the way is one of the neatest dealership I have been too.) We did 325 miles total that day and had an absolute blast. If you ever want a relaxing ride the northern tier of Pennsylvania is fantastic.

Did a ride up there this past June. Real nice. We had a Bald Eagle fly right beside us
near Lake Walomwapac or something like that. The Eagle had a squirrel in its claws.
That was cool. Beautiful country.

Have rode 6 in Pa many times, it is a great ride. The Kinzua Dam area is beautiful. Once you got to Andover, Oh. you were only about 40 miles from me. Did you get on Rt. 666, also known as the Devil's Highway?

Combined comments to all: Thanx for the tip on Rt. 120, didn't know about it. I spend a lot of time in PA, so I'll check it out next chance I get. I did the Rt. 6 Diner in Smethport (found out how the Hubberburger got it's name), the Wellsboro Diner (the grill cook is a real artist, she's amazing! If you've been there you know what I mean), the Kinzua Dam and the Kinzua viaduct (don't miss it) and a whole bunch of other stuff. Dalton, I remember crossing Rt. 666 but it didn't occur to me to ride it awhile. As I recall, it was closed in one direction or the other (westbound, I think), but I may be confusing it with another road along the way. I stopped for lunch in Andover. I parked in front of the Cranberry Station restaurant in the square, but it didn't look or sound like the kind of place a Harley rider ought to be seen in, so I went to the Andover Diner a few doors down.

No complaints, perfect weather, great people along the way and a safe ride, that about sums it up.

Wasn't the bridge partially collapsed after a tornado went through that area a couple of years ago??

I had been there many times in the past, prior to the collapse. Walked across the span before it became a state park, around 1970 or 1971. The bridge had no walkway, just railway ties to step on during the walk across.
