Get touch up paint,
2000sand paper(wet)
popcycle stick

Brush paint on , might take two times to build it up some
next day wrap the 2000 grade wet sand paper around the popcycle stick. start wet sanding the built-up paint, until it's smooth. Then buff it out with a buffer and 3m Fine cut rubbing compound.
Hey , if you screw up, you can still take it somwhere and have it painted. Or buy a new one.

Chrome Fender Strip is good idea...

Zannotti's will save you 20% over the dealers here, & it will get here just as fast. You know it's going to have to be ordered...Dam that sucks!

How did the tank bag lid turn out?

I carry my bike over gravel roads

They say you always remember your first. I used to freak over every nick and scratch, but now I look at them as "war wounds". If you want your bike showroom for all eternity, keep it in the garage, under a cover. If you ride it, it'll end up with scratches. If it is bothering you that much, throw some touch up paint on it, and ride!! It is just a scratch. Is it worth $450 to replace the entire fender? I sure as hell wouldn't do replace the entire fender on my truck, because I got a scratch on it. Your money though...

I use bullet hole stickers to hide dings and scratches.

I found a scratch on my bike when I was cleaning it. Front fender, as well. No idea how it got there, but I was beside myself, so I know how you feel. It was the first, but I doubt the last. I had already bought some touch up paint. In the rush to fix it, I did a crap job of it, but no one has ever noticed it. I just figured at some point I will do some custom paint, and it will get taken care of then. Since then, I have to read a post about someoneelses scratch to even remember it is there, lol. It does blow, but it will not be the last.

Go down to car dealer row and find the paint touch up guy in the van who touches up the dealer's used cars... make a friend and he will probably touch it up for free... the guy I met did.

If you have any dings in your helmet, I wouldn't wear it.

I feel for you. It is more sickening than breaking up with your old lady and as sad as having your dog die!
I made the mistake of trying to detail the exhaust heat shield on the rear cylinder on my 07 Ultra when it was still warm with a microfibre cloth. Burnt the sucker right on and nothing would remove it. I am so **** that I figured I would just get f....d by the stealer and be done with it and chalk it up to experience. However, at Sturgis back in AugustI walked by the Vance & Hines display and saw mountains of stock exhaust pipes and shields and the light bulb went on! After a quick discussion and a $10 donation to their beer fund I left with a brand new (to me anyways) preownedshield.
Clamps and all. Love those V&H boys!!!!!!
IMO a little touch up paint and a skilled body shop or custom painter. You are not the first and certainly not the last.
