I see a lot of HD riders with no gear on, except for the jacket. There is no helmet law requirement in Illinois. How many of you wear all the gear, some of the gear or no gear? I hate wearing my helmet, jacket, gloves, and other gear in the summer, but I was taught that it is the only responsible thing to do.
Is gear really a requirement or is it optional for safe riding?
We have no helmet law in PA either, however I wear the helmet, jacket and gloves. It was low 80s here today, and I wasnt too hot. I would rather have it on should something happen.
Shoei X-Eleven, AGV Sport leather jacket, Alpinestars boots and Alpinestars gloves.....If it gets above 85 degrees I swap out the leather for a Tour Master textile jacket.....
I wear a half helmet, fingerless glovesand a HD sleveless shirt if the weather is warm enough. By the standards on this forum I am a poser and the fingerless gloves are pushing me toward the gay side.
Protective gear is up to the person wearing it, stop and think about it, a helmet saved my life in 03 as did a leather jacket save me from very much road rash when I hit a deer in your state, I live in Iowa, boots, yes they also saved my left foot and ankle..when you crash, and sooner or later we all do, you will look at your damaged gear and think, that could have been my body-head you will have your answer. I wear a full face helmet 90% of the time and a 3/4 helmet the other 10% when traveling I always take the full face with me, great for in the rain..I see more and more harley riders now wearing helmets, that is good, but I don't like big brother telling me what to wear..I find most TT riders don't wear helmets..its the cool thing you know.
Short sleeve t-shirt or long sleeve depending on the weather. Rolled up Hoodie on the handlebars and Clears tucked into it just in case. Done. Full finger gloves if it's cold.
