I have a new 08 RG and I am wondering if the stage one air cleaner / intake + remapping would be a good idea. I get the fealing that the EPA has this motor strangled because they can. Will this allow the FI to not run too lean? I want to keep the stock pipes but I was hoping this kit actually made the motor into what they designed it to be.
how is this for timing......i just picked up my 07fxstc from the dealer they fitted the stage 1 ac kit and sert & SE slipons, and it really performs great, much smoother more power and exceleration no popping on decel.....i am happy.
i am no expert but in my case i fitted the slip on SE mufflers without the SE stage 1 AC kit this caused it to run lean hence the popping on decel, now that i had the SE stage 1 AC kit and race tuner fitted and remapped it now runs great.
I bought the bike used and it allready had all the stuff done on it. I talked to the owner and he said it allready had the SE stage 1 kit installed.Don't know about race tuner though.Should I get it remaped?Mine only pops when the clutch is in between shifts.
i am only talking HD options there a plenty of aftermarket options avail, when upgrading the AC you increase the air flow to the engine so you need to increase the fuel as well because running the engine lean can damage it, there are two ways of doing this that i know of " fuel pack" or "race tuner"
fuel pack i think is about half the cost of the race tuner.
fuel pack just increases the fuel, where as the race tuner remaps the ecm and it allows you to make many more adjustments.
Thanks for the info.I talked to the dealer and they pulled up the records for the bike. The pre. owner had it remaped but thats all. Will check on the Race Tuner when funds are avalible. Thanks again for your help.
Nobody answered the initial question and I'm in the same boat with my upcoming '08 RG - is the SE stage 1 a/c kit and ECM remap worth the cost and effort without doing pipes or should we wait and go the full a/c, pipes and tuner route.
I'd looked at doing the SE a/c and remap when I picked up the bike and then going with a full stage 1 later on when the PC or Thundermax '08 versions are available.

remaping the ecm is not cheap, if you are going to remap when you pickup the bike that is when you need to make the decision on
which path you will take for example HD- SERT (remaps the stock ECM), or after market products like Tmax or twintech (these two Products replace the stock ECM)
