sidestand
hi guys, just got me first harley after riding jap bikes for years and love it although l still own and love me bandit 1200,my question is the side stand on me harley does not seem to go forward enough like on the bandit and it feels weird when l'am using it is this ths norm, scared incase it topples off the side stand
billyboy, once you set the Harley on the side stand, it locks in place, preventing tipovers, unlike your Jap bikes.
It is kind of unnerving when it rolls a couple of inches, isn't it!

Look the one thing that you can bet money on is a hd kickstand, it is the strongest in the industry, I have slept on my bike more than a few times, 240 lbs plus the gear I was taking on a trip, nothing beats a stock hd kickstand
BTW- welcome and good luck with the hd,
cj
sure is unerving when she does it,tommorrow is the last day for a ride out because its getting cold and wet here in the uk was thinking about moving the stop bit on the side stand so it goes forward a bit more over winter by the way its fxdl
I know what you mean about the stand. At first i was dubious about the one on my Roadster.
But why does it have to look like it was made in a high school shop class?[:@]

^^^ That only happens on big twins. On Sportsters, there is no locking place at all.

billyboy has a fxdl dyna lowrider....but, good point .
I found out the advantage of the jiffy stand with 106 miles on our Ultra, when I inadvertantly hit the start button when checking my blinkers, and I had left the tranny in gear.
I understand the new ones now have safety switches.
