RE: 2008 model problems, brakes & throttle, tracking
My '08 EGlide Classic tracks straight, ETC definitively different feel but no biggie.
The bad; Cruise Control stopped working, the rear brake squeals like a stuck pig..mmm or Hog...8) and I have the same feel on both front AND rear brakes (first pull spongy, second firm), also nice "clunk"from fork when going over bumps.
The worst; paying good, honest, hard earned $$ to recieve SHITTY service!! All my complaints, "stealer service dept" say normal!!
So I have to "swallow" driving this bike with these issues AND PAY FOR IT!!!
RE: 2008 model problems, brakes & throttle, tracking
I've got an 08 RG with 600 miles. ABS works fine and it tracks true to the road. I have experienced the problem you describe when leaving a traffic light. Sluggish with poor throttle response. Also it gets real hot after sitting in traffic. I plan to go with a SERT and open up the breathing w/pipes and an SE air box. Hopefully this will cure the issues. Overall I love the RG.

So the guy has a few questions about the problems he is having with his new ride and some brain dead idiots on this forum flame the **** out of him and call him a Troll, what a bunch scum bags. It's no wonder this forum is going in the *******!!!
You just got to hold your head up and take it sometimes. I don't understand why a few warts are calling this guy a troll. He has a few probs and wanted to know if others were experiencing the same - which appears that some are.
RE: 2008 model problems, brakes & throttle, tracking
Love my '08 with the mushy ABS brakes, the left tracking when off the bars to close up my gloves or jerk off or whatever, with the killer heat in traffic, and that g#ddamn valvetrain noise and all! Simply love it. When I get time I'll bleed the brakes, put in adjustable pushrods, jumper the O2 sensors, and stop whack'n off when I ride and keep both hands on the bars. Till then ... f#ck it. It's a Harley. Every new one I ever had did something to put a weed up my a$$.
Oh, welcome to the forum. It's RUB heaven. mostly, but nowdays I'm one, too, so f#ck it.

Sniff, sniff, sniff do I smell TROLL. Or does everyone with 30 years of experience come here to bitcomplainch before having the purchasing dealer look at solving the problems???? Ohhpppsss, he did not mention whether the dealer was an *** about all of this or not. HHHMMM.
O-k what makes this guy a troll,,,, because he asks some questions?? He said the dealers said, everything is normal and within specs?

I just bought a brand new 2008 Street Glide with ABS.
If this is characteristic of ABS I'm glad I didn't know Harley had ABS bikes when I got my 08 Heritage. I'm a big believer in ABS on cars so this probably would've been something I would've been interested in, especially since I'm a new rider.
Sounds like you have a ton of issues with this bike. Those intermittent problems are always a pain because they never happen when the service people are test riding them. They come back with the same line that it's normal and nothing they can do. Hopefully the service guy at least took yours for a decent test ride.
If not I'd take it to another service dept for a second opinion. It would be great if YOU could test out another 08 like yours to see if the same issues are present.
Bottom line, if the issues are normal and/or the dealer won't correct themand you can't get used to them, it's probably time to trade it in on another bike. No sense keeping something you're not happy with.

I'd be calling the MoCo,,, it's like doctors,,, sometimes you have to get a second opinion,, and/or look for another dealer close by and talk to their service manager.
RE: 2008 model problems, brakes & throttle, tracking
I got called a troll several times when I said I didn't have a problem with my bike and posted about people who bitched about Harleys. There was a guy a couple of weeks ago that was an older member here and made an obvious joke and he was called a troll several times. Ain't no big deal. Usually the real trolls get agreed with for 2 pages before someone calls them out. Sounds like you need to make a pest of yourself with the dealer and anybody else you need to, including Harley. If something was wrong with my bike, I sure would. The General chat forum is a little more raucous than the model specific forums here which makes it more fun, but you also get more sh*t thrown at you. Try the model forums, you can usually get some pretty good advice over there or find people with the same problems and get some insight into what they did to solve or not solve the problem. Welcome.
