Okay, I need all of your opinions. I am taking a Marketing Class and need to do a poll/survey for a new product and what the demand would be.
Here is the product. A sticker plate for DOD/Military inspection stickers. In particular, I've checked the current market and most are only 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" which doesn't fit the new DOD stickers. However there are quite a few out there.
The question is what would be the maximum you would be willing to pay for the product, which would be a Polished Stainless Steel Sticker plate desgined to hold the DOD/Military Stickers. Don't enter just the lowest price but what the maximum you would pay before saying hell no!
Any help would be appreciated, I waited until the last minute to do this assignment so I need answeres quickly!!
Not sure about the Navy, but in the AF, the DoD Sitckers are going away. It seems the AF has finally realized that we're never going to be in FPCON Normal ever again, and they're always going to ID check at the gates, making the DoD Sitcker useless. The AF is going to use the stickers they have, but once they expire, not more. The plan is to do random insurance/registration checks to make sure the folks who try to beat the insurance requirement will keep their policies current. As far as the DoD sticker stuff, I got myself a decent size piece of 1/8" aluminum and fabricated a sticker plate for my use. Might have a whopping 30 minnutes and $2 into the whole thing. See attached pic for where I placed it.
Definitely have heard rumors that the stickers might be going away on the Navy side, however they've been talking about it for over a year and nothing has come of it yet, personally I think it's a good idea. With the threat of terrorism it makes service members an easy target because anyone can identify what car or bike they are driving.
Even if they don't go away, check out www.chromethathog.com. They already have such a product. One quality you didn't list is mounting options. Fork leg, frame down tubes, handlebars, etc.
Thanks I hadn't seen that one, good point on the mounting options, I hadn't thought of the different mounting options, don't really like the one chrome that hog sells though so maybe I could improve the design. Probably won't actually sell it but I thought it might be something interesting to look into for my class since it has to do with motorcycles.
Good luck with your project. If I weren't a cop on the base I'd have gotten one from Chrome That Hog. Fotunately, professional courtesy means I don't need a decal on either my bike or truck. However, they're getting rid of the decals anyway. Before that, there was someone here that made plates that mounted to the cross member (where moustache bars mount) out of polished aluminum.
Yeah, they're a bit pricey. I can speak for their quality, though. I have rims, swingarm, lower forks, and both calipers from them. Their chrome is top notch. That mount is thick and heavy. However, to me it was cost prohibitive. If I had to have a decal, I'd have just gotten the thin polished tin piece the guy on base offered.
