Default Cold gear question

Well, this morning I had planned on topping off the tank on my Fatboy, adding stabilyzer andstoring the bike until next riding season. Long story short...I filled the tank and then burned half of it because I couldn't stop riding. It was cold and windy but the bike is such a pleasure to ride that I couldn't stop. So, my question is: What do you guys and girls wear during the cold winter months? I was wearing a sweatshirt, leather jacket, jeans, work boots and gloves. I could feel the cold on my hands and legs. My feet and upper body were fine. Have any of you used an electric vest or jacket? Any comments will be appreciated.

I know there are guys on here that swear by an electric vest.I bet it cuts down on the amount of layers you have to wear also.As for keeping your hands warm,a good set of snowmobile gloves works great. My feet have never really gotten too cold.I just wear two pairs of good socks, and it seems to work for me.

Thanks for the reply Freekdawg. Layering seems to be a problem. I feel that toomany layersare bulky and restrict movement. Thank you.

Gauntlet gloves with gore-tex and neoprene work pretty well. I've heard silk underclothes work well but haven't tried them myself. I have a pair of cold weather pants from HD that workVERY well (a bit pricy though. mine were gifts) I am impressed with the HD long socks too. Nice in cold and hot weather. Check em' out.

Silk long johns, levis and layers. Winter gloves with gauntlets. Leather jacket with a full snap-in liner and chaps. Fleece turtle neck and a full face helmet. However, I do think it's time for me to get some Gerging electric gear.

You might also consider electric grips on the bike.

I wear a Gerbing's heated jacket liner (WITH sleeves), and Warm and Safe heated gloves. Along with that, I wear chaps over my jeans (and sometimes long-johns if I'll be out for a long time), my regular riding boots, leather jacker (with full liner), neck protector (to block the wind), and a neoprene facemask. With that, I've ridden when temps have been in the high teens/low twenties. Oh, and I don't have a windshield.

Cheers!

H-D FXRG nylon jacket with the long-sleeved quilted liner fitted. Expensive, but very good at keeping out the cold. At temperatures around freezing point it has been fine, with just a thin smart shirt anda sweatshirt underneath. Leather jeans, with thermal long-johns when below freezing. Waterproof and windproof leather hiking boots. Waterproof gauntlet style gloves. Full-face helmet.
