What kind of markup is there on that bottle of suds we get at the local pub?.
But I can't blame the guy for trying to save over $100. Local loyalty is great but it's not worth $100 IMO.
Once you get too far away from what can be interpreted as honest barter someone is gonna get screwed....Allowsuch screwing to go on unchecked and you get runaway inflation IMHO
Try Mike's famous Harley in Deleware. They mark up the bikes by at least 3 grand. They say it's becuase they're a premium
dealership.
They do have nice restaurant. And if they think you're going to buy one of their bikes you get to eat for "free". So if you and the wife are driving down 95 near the NJ border, stop in and grab a free meal. Then run out the backdoor.

If I'm gonna pay 3 grand over list, the dealer better throw in a deep sea fishing trip off the coast of Costa Rica with a well stocked bar served by a bunch of topless Columbian cuties.

My dealer told me that me that he loses money on every deal; they make it up on VOLUME
I'm going to try that logic!!
When I drink I always come home with less money then when I left.
So........From now on I'll just drink more and so I should in turn come home with (make)more money!!!
When I bought my 2002 FLSTCI I was a real new-by. I rode it stock for 3 years till my buddy bought a 2005 Road King and he had V&H Slip-on mufflers, air cleaner and flash for his bike. I now had to have new pipes for a little more sound. I did a lot of looking on the net and finally decided on the V&H BSS. I went to my Harley dealer and asked how much. The quote was about $1,400. I don't remember exactly what the numbers were. It was about $550 for the pipes, around $500 for the Race Tuner (they told me they didn't do the stage one flash) and around $125 for the screaming eagle AC plus labor. Hmmm, well I am no mechanic, but I check and found my pipes at Direct Parts (don't think they are still in business) for around $400 or so, bought a Power Commander IIIr for around $300 (or a littel more) and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker for less than $100. I do remember it was $800 and change for the parts. I did the install myself and then took the bike to a local indy for dyno tuning ($200 money well spent). 77hp / 83 torque. Man was I happy. No problems at all and the install was easy. Now I have replaced my cam chain tensioners and I will probably put a mild cam in this winter. I have the service and parts manual and take my time and when I need help I come here and a couple of other sites. Do all my own maintainence. Not only is it cheaper to do it yourself, but now I don't have to get upset when I go pick up my bike like I did when I was having work done at the dealer.
