Its just hillarious when you can expose the incredible mark up that the dealers impose on us.
For instance, my dealer is charging $609+tax for a set of V/H BSS pipes for my softail. I asked him to print out a quote sheet with that info.
He did.
Thequote sheet has thevendor'sitem number and their description listed along with the price the dealership would charge me. Searching the internet for a few minutes at home I found those same pipes, same vendor item number and exactly the same abbreviated description for $492 out the door.
I went back and talked to a part guy who confirmed they have used the same website that I found these at.[sm=bustedsign.gif]
Nice...obviously I'm not ordering the pipes through the dealership....
Sure...how this country was built is a matter of record and it was right for the times. I can't argue with that. What I'm more concerned with now though is what's bringing us down, maybe to our end! Stupidity comes to mind....

Most dealerships use the catalogue price (Fatbook, J&P, etc) since the customer has access to all these books. Your dealership is trying to scam you, but most of them are not that stupid.

Sam is right, most dealers (at least in my area) use the Drag Specialties Fat Book suggested price. Some will give you a better deal than list but nobody goes over that price.
