First day back at work since last week. The Tulsa area has been hit hard with ice storms the past few days. Over 500,000 people without electricity at the first of the week. I live outside of Tulsa and we lost power Saturday night. I have 4 roads I can use to get to civilization. Monday morning all 4 were blocked with trees across them. Bad part is those trees also took down the power lines and poles.
Been keeping the fireplace going and sleeping on the couch since Saturday. Finally found a portable generator to buy on Tuesday. We're now able to have a few things plugged in with extension cords.
I think the icy partis over. Friday calling for up to 4" of snow.
The bright part of this is we have electrical workers coming in from all parts of the country to help us get back on our feet. God bless those that come to the need of others.
My bro lives in OKC and is about number 318,000 to get his power back on. Front yard tree fell and hit 3 cars of a neighbor. While he was looking at that, a big crash in back and another tree took out all utility lines. He says stuff is still crashing down and another storm on its way. Kinda nuts cause we're riding today here and it's clear so far. Twenty degrees though.
Hang in there... maybe get ElectaRick to come down and get your lines back up?
Hope ya get back to normal soon, i know how ya feel we had a hurricane couple years ago here in tidewater, Va. Boy we were glad to see those power crews from Texas roll into the hood.Good luck
It's probably gonna cost me about half of what a new bagger would cost to cleanup the mess at our house here in central Oklahoma. Not covered by insurance of course. [:@]
My son lives just south of you at Lake Eufaula, He said they weren't hit so hard and still have power, It is a devastating storm, Our Prayers are with you and hope that all gets back to normal soon, Course ya kin always come on down here n bunk with us while they git th power back on. Ridin weather here in San Antonio,
My wife's cousin lives near Tulsa and we were wondering how bad Tulsa got hit. We live out in the woods here, so once in a while a tree will knock out the power, but it doesn't take ten days. Man, that is rough. Water pipes bursting, gas stations unable to pump gas. We hope the situation improves quickly. Good Luck to you.
Check your policy very carefully for a description of what's called "Debris Removal."
Otherwise, hope you are holding out okay.
In Missouri, debri removal is only covered if the debri (tree limb, etc) has damaged a covered property (roof, fence, etc). Even then, the coverage is limited to $500.
We got hammered last January. Spent 12 days without power. I certainly feel for you. God Speed.
