99octane,

Thanks for the great information. I never knew exactly what the octane level was in the regular fuel they sell here. I really like the local Agip they have here as they are great people. They have the Blue98 and they will take the cupons for the 98 if you ask. They will just charge you a few more liters to cover the cost but they are very reasonable.

Kind of a side note we may have to keep in touch since the European HOG rally is in your neck of the woods this year in Lake Garda. I don't know if we are going to make it over with all the trips we have planned but we are going to see. We will defenatly be going back to Faaker See and hopefully it isn't near as cold and miserable this year.

While I stick to big boy brands for the high octane stuff for my scoot, my wife brought home a coupon the other day from Albertsons for their gas island for $.50 off per gallon - their current regular running at $2.73 a gallon for the 87 octane stuff.
One other point to mention that I read here on another thread, you may want to look around for stations with individual hoses per gasoline type. When you consider how much fuel a bike tank holds and how much fuel is in that hose, you could easily get 1-1.5 gallons of regular when you start up the premium selection before the premium ever gets there from a single hose pump.

The zone around the lake is a must see, as well as the Lake of Como, if you ever manage a trip there: Como, Lecco and Bellagio are some of the most beautiful landscapes in Italy (BTW, some of the scenes in the new Star Wars trilogy with Anakin and Amidala - the ones at the end of Episode II if I remember correctly - have been shot there, so if you've seen the movie, you have an idea of what you get).

87 Octane????
Now is MY time to stop ranting about poor fuel quality...
I used to whine a lot after seeing that in japan the regular stuff is 98 octane, and the premiums run 104 or even 105. But now... 87 octane is enough to wreck the engine of any one of the vehicles my wife and I own... [:-]
Moreover regulations dictate that each fuel has its own pump, here.

You gotta be kidding!
You'd have to try gas in Italy before ranting about price...
here is 1.3 € / liter for standard 94 octane gas and 1.5-1.6 € / liter for premium 99-100 octane gas... And I'm talking best prices you can get (even if I doubt you can get 1.3 now...)
That's 7.1$/gallon at best. It usually rises when the towelheads get restless[:@]
Every time I hear about whatthey pay in Europe and Great Britain for gas, they always fail to say whythey pay so much. It's because oftheir socialist "womb to the tomb" and "cradle to the grave" type governments which tax everybody huge amounts on everything. A lot of the cost of gas in European countries and Great Britain is the taxthey pay per gallon or liter for allof theirsocial programs which the socialist Democratswould liketo do to us here in the USA if we let them. I doubt that the actual cost of the gas itself is even as much as it ishere in the USA before the taxes are added.

I only use 87 octane, the recommended fuel for the 883. The price is about $2.96 right now. Projections say it will probably go back up to $3.25 or so in the Spring. The experts that I follow say it is worth about $4.00 a gallon. So, I'll flash a smile at my local station operator as long as the price stays below that level.
