Good point. Can any of y'all over there tell us how much of your fuel cost is from taxes? I think the fed and state tax for FL is about $.50.

Every time I hear about whatthey pay in Europe and Great Britain for gas,they always fail to say whythey pay so much. It's because oftheir socialist "womb to the tomb" and "cradle to the grave" type governments which tax everybody huge amounts on everything. A lot of the cost of gas in European countries and Great Britain is the taxthey pay per gallon or liter for allof theirsocial programs which the socialist Democratswould liketo do to us here in the USA if we let them. I doubt that the actual cost of the gas itself is even as much as it ishere in the USA before the taxes are added.

You'd have to try gas in Italy before ranting about price...
here is 1.3 € / liter for standard 94 octane gas and 1.5-1.6 € / liter for premium 99-100 octane gas... And I'm talking best prices you can get (even if I doubt you can get 1.3 now...)
That's 7.1$/gallon at best. It usually rises when the towelheads get restless[:@]

Gas prices are a sore subject with me. We are getting ripped off big time...but we can't seem to organize any kind of protest that would be effective.
The recent assassination in Pakistan and immediate jump in gas prices just goes to prove that gas prices are NOT related to supply and demand!They arepurely politically motivated and it fries my *** everytime....let's do something!
I have a thought about the influx of mexicans....why don't we make Mexico another state, let the mexican president become the governor of that state, tax the hell out of them and everything they do, earn and own, (like they do us) and tap into their underground oil supplies and cut the middle east loose! This would make the people of Mexico tax liable citizens instead of us chasing and deportingthem for the crap they do now. Works for me..how about you?

In response to a question yes the tax on fuel in UK is around 83% making a gallon around $10 just now.
As for UK being "womb to the tomb" and "cradle to the grave" type governments two points
- the tax was deployed by both the Labour and Tory gov's so that democratic and republican
- I kinda like - not having to worry about whether the hospital will accept us or do I have to sell the house
- having some form of job protection
- not needing two jobs to live
Just my humble opinion

What really grips my **** is that i pay approx.£150 ($300) taxes on a weekly wage of approx. £650 ($1300).Then pay £5 ($10) for a gallon of petrol £4 ($8) of which is tax. I shall be holidaying in the USA in May(our first time) think i,ll stow the Bob and take root......
