If you could take a month or so off work and had the cash or retired (lucky ***'s). What would be your ultimate ride? A ride that you figured would be a once in a life time ride, one that you would probably never get to do again?
Ahhh ... the beauty of being a university professor ... I do get a month off at a time. So far I've made it across the country a couple times on bike as well as several regional rides. So I guess the "fantasy" ride is going to be Alaska ... though I plan to do that in 2 summers. Summer '08 will be another cross-country tour and then Alaska in summer '09.

Hmmm ... come to think of it ... especially since there's 6 inches of snow on the ground here ... there are a couple more I'd love to do. Maybe the European continent, start in Greece and work your way north-northwest to Scotland. Or start in Alaska and run down the Pacific coast to the last paved road on the Baja.

I've never been to New England so I suppose I'd ride up there and have a lobster dinner.

I already have plans for when I graduate from high school this year. In early July, my dad and I are going west on I-70 from Denver as far as we can and then down to Paso Robles, California to see some friends. Then east to El Paso and up north to Alamogordo, NM. Then east again to the mississippi River and follow that up to St. Louis. Then west back to denver for two weeks to relax. Then up to Sturgis we go, and take the back roads home. And this definitely wont be the last, hopefully.
That sounds like a very nice trip, and I hope you guys enjoy every mile. Take along a camera and plenty of memory so you can take a load of pictures. Look I am not too sure of how old you are, but my advice to you is to spend as much time as you possibly can with your dad now. It was my Dad who got me my first bike....a Honda Trail-70, and he would take me all over to ride different places all through my youth from the time I was about 7 until I was about 18. I never realized back thenhow much the time we spent riding together meant to me......they werefar and away the very best days of my youth. So make the mostout of your time with your Dad and make him proud of you!

check out that place on the left hand side of the road as your heading south on Rt1 just as your entering Key West. I been wanting to get some new ink at that place for years, but never had the time to stop in and see whats up with the place. Post back after you go there and let me know what you think of the place.

Well I have already been cross country once, but that was back in April of 81 when I was still a kid, and I did it on a Honda CB750F all set up for blasting through the canyons. I also had a bunch of junk tied to the bike, and my entire wardrobe of riding gear was a pair of jeans and adenim jacket.....oh and I forgot to add that I only had enough money for fuel ONLY.....not for food or lodging....FUEL ONLY...(well I did have enough for some toast and coffee).Lets just say it was a cold, wet and uncomfortable trip.....but I did haul ***.

Anyhow.....now that I have matured a bit, I would like to take a extended trip, but to do it right it would take about 2 months.....and the funny thing is I have the time.
I would like to do the four corners with a bit of crisscrossing here and there. Then I would store my bike at one of the dealers on the West Coast, and do the "Fly & Ride" thing that HOG offers and go out to Hawaii, and ride the hell out of each one of the islands, ending in Kauai (I lived there in Kapaafor 18 months back in the 80's). Then drop off the bike, fly back to the main-land.....pick up my bike, and ride back to New Jersey. I figure two months should give me enough time to see most of what I want to see, and still have abig enough marginin there for exploring, and getting side tracked. Since my GF dont work, I would take her along for the ride. The only thing stopping me is that my Dad is ill, and needs me to help him with a lot of stuff...and that is priority #1. I am still quite young and God willing I will have plenty of time to make these type of rides.

I would just go in any direction on any day, no map, no phone etc......just ride until I had enough.

WOW some great rides some have been on and sounds like some great rides in the works.

I like to just take off and ride so to me it would be cool to have a month or more to just go with no real plan other than to see the country for a month or more.

If i were planning i would like to do the following rides.

1) coast to coast
2) route 66
3) 4 corners
4) a ride up into canada
5) Ride to key west been there just not on a bike
6) When the kids grow up want to take wife to europe and travel around on a harley while there.
