Default Tassels

Okay, I may get flamed to high heaven for this but it made me laugh out loud so thought I would share and get some opinions.

Tuesday me and the little woman got up early and decided to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. It was pretty cold and she doesn't ride with me so we were in the truck.
On the way back we were on one of those circular off ramps on the freeway and I noticed a biker behind us, looked like a Harley windshield, maybe a Road King.

When we straightened out and got back up to speed he passed us on the left, a nice shiny Road King Custom, my favorite RK.

When he was out in front a pretty good ways the better half asked; "Are those tassels on his gloves or his handlebars?"

I said they looked to be on his handlebars.

She said: "That is the most gay thing I have ever seen! Why would he put those on his bike, I had those on my bicycle when I was ten years old but they were pink?"

I about fell out the truck laughing so hard. I couldn't give her an answer either, they were gay. So I said maybe he's just trying to let everyone know he's not your normal, heterosexual biker. Maybe he's from San Fran and just wants to let everyone know even peter puffers can ride a Hog?

So what say you? Why would a guy put tassels on his handlebars, or his gloves for that matter?
Let me have it, I can take it.

<Edited to correct the typographical error JBaker421 discovered in the title.......thanks J!>

I see fringed brake levers often, never been to 'frisco. Would I put them on? no, but to each their own. I thought this thread was going to be about Fezes!

I like the looks of them on certain models, but have never put them on mine.I don't think it is a gay thing to have them on a bike.

What a jerk! You should not assume that because you saw tassles that the rider is a gay guy. How narrow minded can you be? It could have been a lesbian.[sm=roll.gif]

my personal thoughts on this is---its his bike, I don't care if he paints it pink and puts little nipples on it..we don't have to like it, just him or her..as for me, no thanks, no tassels for me, thanks anyway..I like my bikes to have a lean, mean look, hard for a bike to look that way with tassels hanging off the grips.

Nothing gay about it, it's a personal perference IMO. They're just an eye grabber, like 18 inch apes or a flashy paint job-and I thought this post was about Shriner fezes too.

On the right bike Ilike the look, though not in pink. I think it's all part of the retro, leather fringe, concho thing. Back in the 60s we had our leather vests with the fringes and if you wore one you were cool.So I think"tassles" on a bike add a nostalgic look. I wouldn't haveany problem putting them on my Heritage. Ifsomeone thinks they're gay or I'm gay, that's their problem.

I don't think anything about it one way or another. I don't have them, but aorund where I am, there are some hard core ***** with tassles on ther grips. You'd be risking your life if you called one of them gay.
