RE: Do I just not get it?
Always remember, no matter where you go you will meet some really great people, and some real a55holes. Embrace the good, ignore the others. The guy with the biggest mouth usually has nothing good to say. If you lived in So. Cal, you and your Sportie would be welcome to ride with Wife and I and our friends, as long as you didn't rag on the couple on the Honda.
Oh, I wear a lot of Harley T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets...you name it. I'm old, the houses are paid for, kids are gone....hell, we can afford it. We wear chaps when it is cold, fingerless gloves when it is hot.
Venting is OK. When you realize this is just a slice of life and people are the same everywhere, you wont have to ask why its like that here. Happiness is not having what you want its wanting what you have.
The Sportster thing is a joke. As is the fingerless gloves and chaps. I'm sure you Corvette owners have the same kind of thing with golf ***** or something. Lighten up, it all fun.
Geeze, leave it to a guy with a green bike to start $h1t on the board....
just kidding. Some of us just like to poke at things with a stick to see what happens.
I like to have a good time on the forums, I like to unwind and hang out. life is too short to get all stressed out and take it seriously.
That said, when the time comes that I have pushed it a bit far, or caused undue discomfort to someone, I try to make it right.
just come on in and hang out, remember what irks you when reading the threads and try not to do it too.
If you want information, you can find it here. If you want a good laugh, or good natured ribbing, you can get it here. Give and take on what interests you, and simply ignore the rest.

I'm relatively new here, but alot of things confuse me. It seems that there are alot of judgemental people here that seem to be extremely insecure with themselves. Before anyone gets confused, I am 36 years old, I don't live to ride or ride to live, I don't think I'm a cool badass biker, I don't understand what the big deal iswith chaps and fingerless gloves, blah, blah, blah....I frequent alot of car forums-I'm a hot rod fanatic- and people seem to be ALOT more willing to help each other on other forums. This is not my first Harley, but I don't consider myself to be a biker. I like to ride and currently have pneumonia because of it.
Someone please also explain to me why certain models are looked down upon over the others-namely Sportsters. I'm not clueless, so I've formed my own ideas about why people call it a girls bike. My first Harley was a badass Sportster and I wish I still had it. BTW, it was in American Iron Magazine with a 5 page feature. That is the bike that fits alot of people the best andalot of other Harley owners stare down their noses at them. I had several people that never rode ask me why I had a "girl's" bike. Why do alot of people with more expensive Harley's dismiss other's that do not live up to their class? Not that I want to fit in-just confused.
The only Harley gear that I own is a free t-shirt they gave me at the dealership when I bought the bike. I only wear it around the house, just like I refuse to wear a Corvette t-shirt,even though I loved the one I owned. Don't want to be categorized I guess....
Anyway, I suppose I am just venting. I know I will get hammered like flies on crap, but feel that some people here should really lighten up.
P.S. No, I do not wear chaps or fingerless gloves, but some of my old school biker friends do. Then again, they do what they want and don't try to live up to anyone elses image of what is right and wrong. I don't really expect any real answers because I haven't asked many legitimate questions, so I'llend with the fact that I am not trying to offend anyone or start a goofy forum war, but it just seems that some people should be a little less proud of themselves and a little more helpful to the world around them.
You are way too sensitive, are you not? There is great info here and some really funny people. Take the stuff you want and ignore the rest. I'm sure everyone apologizes for not providing a perfect world. Welcome!
