Been riding since 1968 and have had so many incidents, I don't think I could remember them all. Worst one broke my ankle. Dumbest one was when I pulled a wheely inside the auto hobby shop compound at Coronado NAB. Drove through the back of the garage wall, hit oil on a freeway cloverleaf on ramp, rode a Goldwing down a slope then off a concrete retainer wall, fell into a concreat culvert with the bike on top of me. I'm starting to ache just thinkin about these.
I had one wreck that totalled by bike. It was a Yamaha Virago that I had just bought. A dumbass cager ran a red light and side-swiped me. Luckily, he hit behind my legs and took the bike out from under me; I ended up in the middle of the road, but only with bruises. The idiot kept going. An off duty cop that was stopped at the light took off and tracked him down.
i have had two. first car made a left hand turn in front of me . two thirty years later. i got rear ended. know i have rode going on fifty one years .i dont count the times i when i rode dirt and raced.
Ive witnessed bad accidents and minor ones and I'm not going to respond to the survey - I want all the luck and fortune I can stand! 40,000 miles and all I have done is drop the bike halfway in the garage moons ago. Ride in all kinds of traffic and weather, short and long distances, solo and two up and loaded down. Always enter intersections (with or without lights) as if they don't see me, stay away from loaded trucks and pickups. Otherwise, put on tunes and enjoy life on two wheels, rubber side down and shiny side up!
I've had 1 accident that caused me bodily harm (compression fracture of 12th thoracic vertebrae with multiple pulled muscles) but it was off road when I went off a cliff on land I'd never ridden on before. I think off road and on pavement should be separated out in this survey!
I have no problem with other traffic, but I have been down afew times, and I don't know how many near misses...
The dumbest was riding a couple people on the bike to get us home and setting the bike over at a stoplight across the street from a cop. Dumb!
The worst was laying it down to avoid a left-turn gold Pinto, had to have my face rebuilt (240 stitches and multiple layers). Couldn't get away from the bike, and it pulled me with it. Grrr... Oh, you wouldn't know, 'cept for this little "horseshoe" to the right of my eye... DAMN good doctor.
Side to that - my dad went with me to pick up the bike after I was out of theER- he helped me straighten the handlebars and told me I'd have to ride it home and took off. I was PISSED at the time, but it put me back on the horse - Told me later that if he didn't do that I'd never get back on 2 wheels again. Bless his soul! (Also made me fix the damn thing... grins...)
The worst near miss was turning on a (assumed) protected left in front of oncoming traffic, this guy in a Mercedes across from me, thinking he was Mario Andretti, punched through the intersection as I was starting to move. Missed the front wheel by about an inch or so. Woulda taken us out. Oh yeah, this one I was wearing a helmet, thank you California. Ug.
Not counting gravel/oil slidies... a few of those. Let the bike go where it wanted, I went elsewhere.
Guess for all the years and miles I've racked up on 2 wheelsI've gotten my share. At least I'm still here to talk about it!

Bunch of accidents over the last 30 years on the road... Been real lucky with no lasting damage other than a few bikes gone bye bye... Only been my fault twice... Once I plowed my Kawasaki Concours into the back of a Navy Shuttle bus on Hickam AFB... 2nd one was not a sober moment and I took a curve way too fast... The others have been cages cutting me off, running stop signs in front of me, reversing at intersections and needing my lane more than I did evidently...
One good crash for me in 15 years. No one else involved. Freak accident involving what was either a phesant or grouse (didn't get a good look even though I got a close look) came out of the ditch and hit me in the face. Blinded me at a corner, felt the wheel go off the tar, next thing I know the front end jamed sideways (washout I think), I went flippin' and sliddin' across the tar and ditch. Always where leather and a helmet after that one. Road rash sucks!
