Default Servicar Rear

I'm changing over my '78 FXS/sidecar to a Trike. I have everything ready but I'm wondering how the old Servicar rear will hold up. I haven't seen a Trike at any rallies with the Servicar rear, they all run an aftermarket rear from one of the Trike manufacturers. If anyone has a lot ofmiles running a Servicar rear I sure would appreciate any help/advice. Thanks

Now your talking !

only thing to worry about is your gearing and make sure all your bearings are greased

Hey Crushertx3,appreciate the reply. I've got the gearing set just a bit steeper than my stock '78 FXS. I've put a 41 tooth in the rear, that'll be better than the Servi's stock 37 tooth. I've swapped the engine and trans sprockets also. Another reply mentioned that it probably wouldn't hurt to change the stock bearings for some that are made for running at high speed. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks again for the reply. Your bike is damn sure a great looking ride. Ride Safe

Make sure the brake shoes fit the drums real well, there isnt much there to start with.Might look for an old car repair shop an have them fitted. Its against the law to grind the shoes but some of the old timers will do it anyway.Dont put wide tires on it ,not only harder to pull but more mass to stop.Try to find a chain idler maybe off a dirt bike? That long drive chain vibrates your teeth out.Had the most success running 50 wt with a little stp in it. Have Fun

Hey Nomad Billy, the rear only had brakes on one side when I got it. It was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Figure I might put Disc. I agree with ya about the tires. They're only good for show. Thanks for the advice Nomad Billy.have a good'n
