Default Bad Dealership experience

Not sure who all out there has had issues with dealers but;

I won't mention the particular dealer at the moment but wow did they pi$$ me off.

October 05 - Go in to order 06 Dyna Wide in Glacier white. In short, the sales MANAGER tells me that it would have to be 'worth their while' to get my style back with that color sooner than January. I wanted it sooner so I took my business elsewhere.
I was able to get my ride in early December from another dealer.

Jan 06 - Go to the same dealer after making an appt for my 1k service. 1 week prior i VERIFIED with the service clerk that they honored my purchased contract for services. Get up nice in early today and ride the scoot to the dealer. 8am, rougly 38 degrees. Hand over my key... lady right up ticket and tells me they DO NOT subscribe to the contract that I have for mileage service etc!!!!

So, I come home furious... shoulda stayed there and talked to the General Manager. I called this guy and said 'wow, your place really sucks and i'm gonna tell pretty much everyone about it'

He aplogized up and down and promised he would 'address' the issues. Doubt it.

I'm wondering if I will get sued for slander if I mention this particular dealers name..

Wouldn't think it would be considered slanderous as long as you stuck to reporting only true facts absent of any exagerration or opinions.

If your story is creditable, I don't see how they can do much of anything. JMO

David, I suppose it is on your side of town? Chandler maybe? (I just have a feeling due to your first comment about the bike)

No, not a thing they can do to you for mentioning their dealership's name. If you embellish the facts or flat out lie that may be a different story. This is a forum that they could join and re-butt your claim if they felt strongly about it.

I would call the General Manager back and give him the opportunity to fix it. Just tell him that after you thought about it, you feel like you didn't give him that chance and that you are willing to let him make you happy. Believe me, he will want to make you happy, so let him. He wants you to come back to his dealership, because he knows that while you are waiting on your scooter that you are going to Browse around his showroom and find all kinds of goodies to buy. Plus you'll get the satisfaction knowing that he is reaming the service clerks *** for being rude to a customer.

David, since I think I'm getting ready to buy an 06 Dyna Wide Glide this weekend I would like to know what dealer this was. I wouldn't worry about getting sued. I am pretty sure I will be dealing with Buddy Stubbs in Phoenix but would be curious who you had the problem with. Also I am a little confused, did you bring this back to the dealer you purchased it from for the 1K service or the other dealer? I live in NW Phoenix so there are 3 dealers in my vicinity, Arrowhead, Buddy Stubbs and Hacienda in Scottsdale. Can I eliminate these three dealers? Just out of curiousity where did you purchase yours Firehawk? Thanks, I would appreciate any info.

Chesters in Mesa was the dealer I was having issues with. I've heard nothing but good things about Buddy Stubbs.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Sorry to hear of your dealership problems.
I guess, I have been lucky with my dealer. The dealership is only 10 blocks from the house, but they sold me my bike for list. The wouldn't bulge off sticker, where I could have driven an hour/hour and a half and saved $1500/$2000.
So far, any issues have been readily taken care off and have been treated like family since the day I signed on the dotted line. They also offer 10% off parts because I bought a bike there, but I buy major parts online for 20% off.

Hope your issues are resolved
Good Luck

It's libel if it's written down (as I assume it is if I read it here), but it's only a crime if it ain't true.

You'd have to talk about it to be slander, but even then, if it's true, it's not a crime.

One of the few times when truth wins....

Just don't embellish.

And I think I'd drive a while to save $1500.... Our dealers seem to be nice enough when we get our wallets out, even if it's just for parts and accessories...
