A lot of good things on that list. One of the most important safety tips is to get out and ride. The more you ride, the more situations you are exposed to. Know your limitations and don't ride past them. After you have been riding for a while, you will be able to anticipatedangerous situationsand will know how to react. For the naysayers on the board, I would rather read these threads, than the ones where someone has been hurt or killed in an avoidable accident.
Well if you don't advocate safety on a motorcycle board, where would you start ? One of the wonderful gifts this country allows is the right to an opinion. However, if you don't like the thread, you also have the right Not to click that mouse.
Here's the deal, we as seasoned riders have a responsibility to be a good example to new riders. I can remember fifteen years ago, most everyone had on helmets and jackets. last year we did a study on protective gear at panama bike rally. Our findings were one out of every sevendy five people had a helmet on and one out of every twenty five of those were actually DOT approved. We walked a parking lot full of bikes. I would guess there were close to two thousand motorcycles . we counted 12 Helmets. Out of those twelve, five were DOT approved. It's just not "COOL" to wear a helmet. Now take a look at the BMW motorcyclist where it's cool to have all the safety gear. You will hardly find a rider without gear. Like I said before, It starts with us.
