LOL, this has been a hilarious read!
I guess some people will sacrifice vanity for safety and others would rather look cool and take bugs, rocks, 2x4's, and cigarette butts to the face.

Personally, riding for me is a feeling of freedom second only to riding a horse in the wilderness so less protection is better. There is nothing like screaming down the road wide open with no windshield andno helmet. Since I live in CA, a novelty half lid will have to do.
Man I love freedom please stop making laws....

My girlfriend and i were going to lakeland Florida for a bike rally. At that time I only wore a Novelty helmet. We don't know what hit us but on that trip alone, we both got slammed. i got it first , just below the eye. I had to pull over. i thought i was hit with a brick. Got a black eye from it. Not two hours later my girlfriend got hit in the left side of her face. She swelled up pretty bad. We thought we were going to have to go to the emergency room with her it was so bad. I can't tell you from that time to now, how many full face shields I've had to replace from flying debre . There easy to replace and cost much less than fixing my face. When I ate that ladies hood. I hit my head pretty good. All I had was a headache. Wonder what it would of been if I had nothing.
I can tell you from experience. I've talked to people after accidents. I've seen half their face grinded off. Everyone of them wihshed they had a full face on. but hind site is 2020 . A person should be able to learn from others mistakes. Maybe I should post some pics i have of people that have had head trauma

I know some of you don't like the look or feel it is uncomfortable, butI was in my truck today on the interstate and a semi way in front of me threw up a rock that cracked my windshield and scared the hell out of me. If this thing was to hit me while riding with a half helmet in the face there's no question I would have went down. Not to metion the better protection from other elements such as wind and rain... and of course the safety benefits, it's not worth it for me not to wear a full face, just got me thinking.
Perhapsyou would be much safer in an air conditioned SUV........

I initially swore that I would never wear anything but a full face and have since eaten my crow pie over that one as I now mostly wear a half helmet. Simply more comfortable and less impeding to my field of vision; not to mention, cooler (in my opinion) during the hot summers and high humidity here in the South. But yes, I do agree that full face helmets certainly offer better protection. Look riding a bike is dangerous, so is riding horses, both of which I do while wearing a helmet. Could I wear more protection and yet be even safer, yes I could, but it's not as comfortable or enjoyable to me.

There's an element of danger to getting into your car everyday, or hell, just walking out your door. Up to you individually to decide what your comfort zone is.

I'd be curious to know how many of those opposed to the full face have every had a bad once. The full face saved me twice. Take the right spill and you'll never compromisesafety for comfort.

I wear a full face helmet. I like the protection and the noise reduction. On hot days I crack up the visor about 1/2 an inch. I read that most of the head injuries are on the lower part of the front face area. Hense, full-face is safer. But it still should be a choice. We can drink a beer without teeth.
