Anyone ever registered a home-built / custom / aftermarket frame in NC?
I'm debating on buying an old Sporty versus an aftermarket frame to build a rigid bobber.
I'm wondering what the registration / title process is like for a from scratch built bike.
Also, I've heard that insurance is harder to get on a custom versus modifying an existing bike.
I can't say what the procedure is for registering a custom here in NC, but my bike is a scratch built custom. As far as insurance goes, I've never had a moment's problem there; I'm with Nationwide, local agent. My bike is built on an aftermarket frame and is registered as a "custom motorcycle", albeit mostly Harley parts were used.
