I have V&H straightshots. They have removable baffles. If you look in the pipes you can see fins in there,so I know the baffles are in there. My question is how can you tell what type baffles they are? Do I have to remove them to get a part number off of them? Thanks for any help.
I'm no expert on these, but the standard baffles that come with straight shots look like a cheese grater rolled into a tube shape, you can see straight through the tube. The quiet baffles are different, you can't see through them.
Not only canât you see through them there is a big difference in the sound. The quiet baffles are 2 to 3 db softer and they have a lot deeper sound to them. I like loud pipes but I am not sorry I put them in my bike. Plus the quiet baffles aren't very expensive so if you don't like them it is easy to change them out and put the cheese graters back in.
When I put the V&H Big Radius pipes on my Softail, I thought they sounded good....but I felt they could sound better. I was going to make a set of lollipops to put in them, but because of the shape its not easy. Then I found the Thunder Monster Street Thunder baffles for the V&H BR's and put them in.....like night and day......sounds way better, and no loss of bottom end or torque dip! you can check them out here

Sounds like you have the standard baffles that come with the pipes. I don't know that there's a part number on them (mine were all black when I took them out). Surely you're not just looking to confirm what you have. What is it that you're trying to do?
Should be real easy to get the baffles out. Usually just one bolt holding each in.
I've got a set of longshots with the original baffles in them. I've been in contact with Big City Thunder over the past two weeks and just ordered a set of their newest product (not even listed on their website yet). It's the Quality Quiet Thunder Monster. The sales rep I talked to said they used her sporty (with V&H straight shots) as one of thebikes for testing. She said they're quieter than the stock V&H baffles but made more power on her bike than even the original Thunder Monsters. She said at an idle it's quiet, but when you really get in the throttle, they roar!
I should have them by Monday... can't wait to try them out!

Looking for your opinion too. I have the BCT's in my Big Radius pipes & they sound & work great with the V&H Fuelpac. Let us know about the new ones. Are they making them for Big Radius?

I'm pretty sure they are making them to fit all the popular exhaust systems, just as they did with their original product line.
If/when you contact them, they'll want to know the brand and type of your exhaust, the outside diameter of the pipes, and the i.d. ofthe pipes. In some cases, they'll want to know the o.d. of your current baffles. They didn't ask that for my setup.
If they arrive Monday, you can be sure I'llinstall themthat night. I'll give a full report of my impression of the product.
