Are you a Harley snob and ride only with your chapter and other HOG members or do you ride with any other rider who is a good , safe rider and enjoys doing the same things you like to do? Because I enjoy distance riding I pick my ride buddies based on that fact first- are they good ,solid , skilled riders I won't have to be worried about, do they like the same kinds of food I do. I don't want to ride with folks that stop every 25 miles or want to drink and ride, don't wantany whinny girlfriends or wifes complaining along the way. So over the years my ride group is as follows, guy on Fatboy custom, his wife on her BMW, another guy on RK, his wife on her sporty, retired motors officer on his Honda Rune, another motors officer on his Victory 8ball and hubby on his Indian and me on my Sporty. Good group and lots of fun.
I care alot more about the operator than the machine.
Only ride with a couple of good bro's, maybe a charity ride, or good ole' fashioned poker run. Those type runs we can ride with "our" folks and keep the b.s. down to a minimum. My best bro' just converted to a FXDWG from a crotch rocket, we rode together before the switch, because we know each other and trust is very important to us and the folks we hang/ride/party with.
I ride with both. I like riding with the Hog chapter and doing the charity runs, etc. Our chapter is a pretty good group. I also like to ride with friends and people I know. I don't care what kind of bike you own, that does not matter. It does matter if you are an azzwipe on the bike though!
I ride alone for the most part. There's always some kind of drama involved when you ride with others (who needs to take a leak, who is hungry, who needs gas, who needs to get home, who wants to go where. . .blah blah blah!).
I ride with a mixed group of friends. Big area here but small town hang outs. Everyone knows everyone else. We all hang same places. Most of the guys I work with ride so I ride with them also. I Willride beside only a few friends. I know their skill level. Ride staggered with everyone else. I go to rallys with a couple of close groups--we hang out together. Take long trips with close friends. Mixed group of bikes. Mostly HDs buta couple ofBuells and some Metrics.I ride HD.
I'll ride with anybody. Skilled rider or not. My club is not exclusively HD but I guess well over 90% ride HDs. And, there's always hangarounds and such... Shoot, my best friend's name is "Drifter"... Can you guess how he got that name? As a 3 piece patch traditional MC, we don't do "staggered". It's side by side, Baby!!! If'n yer not a good rider, it'll show and you better learn FAST! lol
I'll ride with anyone as long as they don't ride like an idiot (according tomy criteria) and they don't dis my bike...if there good with that thenlet's ride!
