I ma looking to get a used Harley and found this sweet RK but it has almost 60,000 miles on it, it looks pretty clean but i'm not sure if thats just too many miles. What do ya'll think. Thanks. Mike
Knowing the history of the bike will help. Does the owner have all the service records? What's the asking price? Can you takeit to a reliable wrench and let him go over it? It can be a good deal if the answers are right. Just some thoughts on the matter.
Unless you can buy it cheap, I'd keep looking. There are lots of low mileage used bikes on the market now. The miles may not hurt it from a service standpoint, but if you decide to trade up, the dealers will offer you very little for it. Kind of the old "if you buy it, you'd better like it for a long time".
I have a 05 Heritage with 32k miles, can't get anyone to look at it . There are tons of them out there with less than 5k on them. It would have to be awful cheap for me to consider it.
I've been watching beautiful, low mileageRK's going for $10-13,000 on eBay. These are bikes with 10,000dealer maintainedmiles or less and fully upgraded with chrome and accessories.
All things considered I wouldn't do it. There are too many low mileage Harleys out there. Sure, they will cost you a little more but during these times it's really a buyers market.

If your 05 has only 32K and can't get anyone to even look at it, I guess I couldn't even pay someone to take my 06 with 48K.

That's why I don't even worry about it. Unfortunately so many of these bikes end up being garage queens that the market is flooded with very low mileage bikes. I've got almost 70k on my '05 and plan to log 300,000+ on it God willing...
I love myElectra Glideand have never even given a thought to anything else. With proper maintenance there's no reason you can't run one of these almost forever. It's just a machine, maintain it and fix it when it necessary and it will go and go and go... Mine has been trouble-free and a sheer joy thru every mile.
