My wife, another couple and I are planning a trip down to Joplin,MO. We plan to haul our bikes there and ride down through Oklahoma to Paris, TX and then back up through Arkansas to Joplin. We will be on the Eastern side of Oklahoma and the western side of Arkansas. Any suggestions on the roads to take or places to see? We will only have a Friday and Saturday to ride so we would like to make the best of it.
talimena scenic drive - do a google search. starts at talihina oklahoma over into arkansas.
also a lot of scenic riding in western arkansas. www.byways.org/explore/byways/AR
You can go from Talihana Ok, to the Mena Ar area on the Talimena Scenic byway, then head up towards Paris Ark, to Mount Magazine State park (highest point in Ark). From that area, you can get on the Pig Trail, and head north, and visit Eureka Springs. All together, from Talihina, to Eureka Springs, is about 240 miles or so.

Yep, what he said.
I spend a lot of time riding in that part of the country, and that would be a great little trip....
That's the ride I am doing in June, except for reverse order. Topeka to Roaring River Park (and on to ES) on Day one....ES to Talihina on Day two, and then back to Topeka on Day three.

When it gets closer to the date, and if you don't mind the company (or me tagging along), let me know your ride details...
I could meet up with you somewhere in SE Kansas or NE Oklahoma and do part of the ride with you. My son and little grandson live in Joplin, so I could ride a bit and then swing up to see them...
