It's all about being an enthusiast.Read any mainstream mc magazine and every month there will be an article about performance mods for bikes which already have 150 or more rear wheel hp.Half of the ads are about hop up parts. However I do agree if you want to be a speed demon you should have a second bike to ride in addition to your main harley.
what do you drive? you got a 911 turbo or somethin?

My thoughts exactly, but I don't think even a 911 would be that fast. I'm thinking more like a Lamborghini or Ferrari
I'm also curious. I know of only a few Porsches and Ferraris that will even match a 600cc sportbike. But somehow I doubt he owns a $450'000 Carrera GT or $800'000 Enzo. He probably owns a modded american car (Mustang, Corvette or other).
unless he's talkin top speed.....not many bikes will match the super cars in that world but even a stock roadglide will do 0-60 in just over 5 sec and not many cars will keep up with that....
Beacuase Harleys are slow from the factory. But metrics bikes are
built like crap. So if you want a HARLEY. You can acceot they are slow, or make it faster. So simple even a caveman can understand it

I hope I don't step on too many toes here, but I have an observation/commet/opinion to post. I've been a rider for the better part of 40 years now, and until lately haveridden metric bikes. I finally moved up to Harley, and so far I'm loving it for the feel, the sound, and the look.
However, I notice that a good percentage of posts on the forum are concerned with performance issues, which honestly confuses me. This isn't a slam to Harley, as I'm loving the bike, but why spend such time, effort, and moneyin search of speed, when you could buy a cheap used honda like a 750 magna, that will probably be faster than what you end up with after spending a fortune on Harley engine parts??
As I said, I love my Street Bob, but other than intake/exhaust mods, it seems the bucks should go for appearence and comfort rather than trying to make a Cad fleetwood into a Z-28.
Sorry if I've pi--ed off everyone, but it won't be the first time my mouth's overridden my hummingbird a--.

Many bike riders (including me) love to do that "hot-rod" tinkering with their bikes. Whenever someone tells me, "you can't do that!", I proceed to try and prove them wrong.Someone tells me, "you can't make a Harley go fast!"; Waa Laa, the gauntlet has hit the floor and the duel begins!
for me i love my dyna lowrider 06 but the 88ci just don't have much giddy up from mid to top so that is why i'm bumping mine up.... i like fixing things up...hell when i bought my 01 GMC truck i took it straight to Big 10 and put some 20in wheels on it i have always done this stuff to any car/truck i owned...and i fixing to put about a 1,000 in stereo equipment in it.... i just love to spend money.....lol
I have a 00' FXST with motor work, wide tire, bunch of chrome, it is a pretty nice and fast ride. I also have a 07' FLHX and it is just a STG 1 ride, while I like my FXST alot I am finding that I ride the FLHX more and more.................
Long before people ever said that Harleys could not be made to gofast,I was building fast Harleys.Today it is very easy to build very fast Harleys, and it can be done without breaking the bank.Providing you can do most of the work yourself.
