sounds like you're getting a hell of a deal... relax....you've already waited this long and you'll kick yourself for passing this up. If you do the the stage 2 later it will prolly cost more because they have to tear down the motor again. just sayin
Agreed. Unfortunatly the dealer prob didn't know what was up with the parts at the time. They can't control when harley sends them parts, bikes or anything else. It'll be worth the wait, maybe whine a little but don't complain and b!tch if it's outta their control. If they are a good dealer be loyal to them, the perks to being loyal to a good dealer will pay off in the long run. It sucks waiting, believe me, I know.
Make them give you free stuff. Talk calmly but LOUDLY when you complain on the showroom floor.
Do it on a saturday when they are busy.
What Bob said, but be sure to take along 4 or 5 of your friends all dressed "exactly" the same in Harley gear to "impress" upon the dealer you are serious about this matter. Jus' goofin' off.
That is a bummer. Irritating at the least. I said it in your original post, and again here, NICE color and NICE ride. You WILL N JOY it, so just come here and vent until they get it done for you. Know that is probably of li'l consolation, but may save some hard feelings down the road. Just my 2 wheat pennies worth. GUMBY
ok I purchased a new fatbob the 2nd of febuary the dealer was offering a stage 1 103 up grade as part of the selling price on the bike . I agreed to go ahead and pay the difference in parts and labor to get the stage 2 103 kit . they said the parts should be in in a couple of days and I would have my bike by the weekend. well its going on 4 weeks and still no parts and my bike is setting in the shop so I call the dealer and they say the parts are on back order , of course the didnt have the courtesy to call and tell me I had to call them , so I called the motor company to verify the out of stock status and they say the parts wont be avalible until the 29th of febuary and should start to ship to dealers on march the 3rd. the dealer offered to give me back the difference I paid but then I would be losing the value of the stage 0ne kit which was part of the purchase price so I would be getting screwed out of 500.00. To me its false advertising to offer something and then not be able to provide it on a timely manner, but I have learned a valuble lesson never ever pay the motor company up front and dont take any promised services as part of a deal . if it isnt right infront of you dont give them any cash at all .
Yeah, right. I doubt they could have done that even if the parts where in house. They where just doing what salesmen do. Telling youwhatyou wanted to hear to make the sale. I would have got that in writing with you getting a $100 credit for every day they failed to deliver.
I guess I'm confused. The 103 Stage 1 parts are on back order or the stage 2 parts? Can you not go ahead and take possession of the bike until the parts do come in?
I paid the difference in parts and labor to up grade from stage one to stage 2 . stage two includes new cams exhaust and down load along with the new jugs pistons air cleaner and heavy duty clutch that come with the stage one.
yes I could go get the bike and ride it untl the parts get here but I thought it would be redundant to do two break ins and like an idiot I took it that I woud have it in 7-10 days .
I blame the motor company more than the dealer although I thought the dealer shoud of had the courtesy to call me and tell me the parts were on back order , any communication with the dealer and the motor company has been initiated by me not them.
I am not going to back out of the deal , like I said earlier the stage one 103 kit was an incentive the dealer had and I took that into consideration when I traded to take the difference I paid for parts and labor and not make them install the kit would cost me close to 500 bucks. so yes I will wait but I am going whine a bit more , maybe I can get some fingerless gloves or chaps out of them.
Nice looking bike! Try to relax a little, it's winter anyway right? But, do complain, but be polite. Be direct and firm, but, you maight want this dealer for something else later. Warranty maybe? Maybe something else? Who knows, but you already know, you catch more flies with sugar than anything else. So, be direct and firm, but don't chase off other paying customers. That will not help you except for the moment you'll feel some power. Noname
Pick it up and ride the snot out of it........jugs and pistons are trash in there eyes anyway.
Or pick it up pull the heads and jugs, have em bored buy a couple pistons and a cam and voila a 103
Like the others said......relax and be patient. You are getting a good deal for those mods. Plus you will get a few bucks on the take offs on ebay....make them give you some boots or a jacket for the wait. Stop bitchin and squeeze some more blood out that stone. As long as they are apologizing...you have the upper hand. And be thankful you are not finding out they are one of those dealers who tell you to "take it or leave it" and walk away.
Be patient. Get what you want out of the dealer if they give discounts due to you buying the bike there then do business at other places. Bad service means none of my business for you.Thedealer I bought my bike from wantedto know why I didnt use him for service. I told him the truth. "I dont like you." May have been cold but it was shorter than going into the spill of the MANY mistakes they made on my bike and how I had to carry it to their competition to get them fixed. On my girl friends bike they wouldnt even honor the Lemon Law.
