Well I outgrew the Sportster and got an awesome deal on an 07 RG fully loaded with everything except GPS. The problem now is that I can't afford the insurance. I tried searching the forums, but it seems search is not working as words like 'harley' and 'insurance' bring up nothing. If search is not broken, and I'm just using it wrong I apologize.
I thought the RG would only add about $150 tops on my insurance but it doubled it! Going from $450 to $900+ for a 6 month premium. Anyone recommend any good motorcyle insurance companies? I'm currently with GEICO, and tried Progressive, State Farm, Allstate all of which wanted to make my 6 month about $1200+
I may just go with the RG as the dealership got me at the monthly I wanted, but its hard to pull the trigger when my insurance premiums double. Looking forward to any suggestions as I want to pick up the bad boy tomorrow, I hope Thanks, guys, for any tips or other companies to try!
A better question might be, if you live in the exact same ZIP CODE as I do and have the same exact bike and the same exact coverage with the same credit rating as I do and the same age bracket that I'm in with the same driving record, then what does your insurance cost you? Anything else is basically useless information as 50 or more past threads on this subject have shown. All you can do is shop around for the best price with a reputable company.
By the way I pay $362 a year with AARP Foremost in the Phoenix metro area for whatever that info is worth which isn't much unless you live here. I don't carry uninsured or under insured coverage as that doubles the cost and I have good medical coverage.
Thanks, all for trying to help, I wish I can read the hundred of other threads posted on the subject, but as I said did a 'search' first and it kept saying can't find any matches.
My FICO is about 688 and I live in Reno, NV. I do have un-insured coverage I wonder if thats whats doubling my insurance. To all you others who have low rates is it because you have a homeowners policy through the same company? Unfortunetly, I don't own and I don't think my $20/month for renter insurance will give me the big deductions on my insurance.
I'll have HD try and run an insurance quote for me too. So close... but I have to try its a really nice bike Any other bike would make me feel like I'm settling.
Try Bikeline insurance thru Markel. It was the lowest $ of any for me. But, there is a huge difference because of all the factors. Area of residence, age, driving record etc. And now the credit score will impact insurance fee.
