Default Oil Cooler Install

OK, so talk me off the ledge here.

I've purchased the HD Oil Cooler. The rubber hoses are freaking me out. This doesn't seem very durable.
Is this something I should look to replace, or am I worrying about nothing?

You're worrying over nothing. I've been running HD coolers on my bikes for many years. I've never had a hose fail. I do, however, replace them every 20-25K miles. Cheap insurance as far as I'm concerned.

Why would you worry about the rubber hoses? Do you worry about the radiator hoses in your car? The water temp in those gets higher than the oil temp in that oil cooler.

I was actually more worried about taking a hit from a rock, or something like that.

Good question!!! I have never had a problem either, like said just inspect them or get a spare set and carry with you,,, cheap insurance if you travel a lot of miles a year.

Warning this is a SEVERE PROBLEM, DO NOT install that cooler, send it to me along with $375.00 and I will get one back to you that has improved rubber hoses. LOL, JK!!

Good idea to check them semi often but they dontcarry that much heat or pressure to be too worried about.

So do the work well to bring down temps? When moving I would expect it but in heavy traffic do they make much of a difference?

If you're really concerned about something "cutting" the hose (rock, road debris, jealous poser), buy woven nylon or steel sleeves to go over them.
