I'm thinking about buying the FXRG jacket but I am not sure about the main front zipper. Dealer here in Jackson MS doesn't carry them so I can't check them out. Does anyone have the jacketthat can tell me if the front zipper is a heavy duty one and will last. Yes, there's a warrenty but sending a jacket away for the 4 to 8 weeks to get it repaired is not too appealing.
I have FXRG Jacket & the front Zipper is pretty good, but it often gets stuck in the fabric making it hard to zip/unzip so be careful, The jacket is really great though, ive used it in weather as low as 8 degrees, 35 and rainy and as high a 89 & was comfortable, great airflow & GREAT water protection, also the warm liner works great, if you put a hooded sweatshirt under it, you'll be ready for the coldest weather, I guess if I had to choose a weak point itd be the zipper, but its not so bad
My leather one had crap zippers. I took it in for repair, dealer sent it to their person and had it fixed in 1 day with a YKK brass instead of the junky plastic zipper. I have had 3 replaced now... main and both pockets.
Great jacket otherwise and I wouldn't hesistate to repurchase if needed.
I have the new FXRG jacket. The front zipper is heavy duty, but often gets stuck on the fabric. The jacket is a good "all weather" jacket. I'm a little disappointed in the primaloft liner. There is no insulation around the arm pit area. When riding in sub 35 degree temps, my pits and **** freeze. Wearing the windstopper fleace benieth the jacket solves that problem. Also, the FXRG pants will not open wide enough to pull on and off over my boots requiring boots to be removed when taking on and off. The pants have a nylon panel below the front zipper that makes it very difficult to do number one. All in all, its a top notch riding suite, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. I certainly wouldn't wear them out beer drinking!!!
So far mine has been great but I've only worn it one season. I like it because I can take the liner out and wear my electric jacket liner under it. It doesn't pack too well on the bike because of the back armor.
I had the first design FXRG nylon jacket, (the black and orange one). It was the best/warmest jacket I ever owned. Never had a problem with the zipper. Like a fool, I sold that jacket and decided to purchase thecurrent design jacket. After trying several of them on, I couldn't find one that wouldproperly fit my arms. They were all too tight, especially with the innermost liner/jacket that comes with the jacket, installed. I had to settle for the next one down, the Heritage nylon jacket. It definitely is not as warm as the FXRG and the zipper gets stuck in the fabric all the time. Not really happy with the jacket.
