Well, made it back from Daytona a couple days ago and my arm feels great!! All the bikes there and not once did I see anyone trying to wave their arms off. Once I got home and rode around a little though it all started again. Weather sucked while in Daytona but it was just OK this year. Best part was I got to visit my mother on her 80th birthday. Nothing better than mom`s home cooking.
I guess I just don't get it. Does waving bother anyone that much. Does it ruin the badass look? Why such a big deal over people trying to be friendly. If everyone gave you the finger as you rode around you would have something to complain about. Wave, don't wave, must have something more important to worry about. Just wish I could get the bike out and ride, maybe be waving like a fool.
A lot of us ol' boys don't wave anymore because it started back when we were the only ones keeping Harley afloat. There weren't many of us around and we knew each other. Hence we waived. Nowadays why should I wave at somebody I don't know? Could be a cop or even worse a lawyer! Don't take it personal but I ain't wavin unless your my bro! Riding a Harley don't make you that!
I was out for a ride last Sunday and it was wave city. I got no issue with waving every now and then but I musta thrown two fingers down to 100 different people.
Yeah, those wavers are about as bad as all those PITA people who smile at you during the day, and ask how you're doin'...who the hell do they think they are, wavin' & smilin' and sayin' hello to everyone?...[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

+! Remeber riding in the early 70's, you could gotons of miles on the Interstate and never see another bike.
When we're out and about, Momma does the "wavin' " And guess if she notices ya, she waves. But then, if it is mile 120 or more, don't expect too much of a wave. (Her back and hindend are hurtin' by then )
Unless I recognize the bike/rider, then I'll give either a 2 finger or a fist, like in the 70's. And if I meet a "pack" and I know them, will wave to the first 2. Guess it would be a wave of recogniztion(?). I do have to admit, that I am way more likely to wave at a stranger on a Harley, vs a stranger on a non-Harley.
I tend to be a waver, but it was just not practical at Daytone Bike Week - almost more bikes than cars for a 10 mile radius, and I would have worn my arm off trying to wave.
