Here is another way a cager can sneek in there and kill ya. Was toolin along enjoying the sun and spring weather on a curvy Louisiana back road.Usually I tend to be on the inside of the curvejust so there is some play if I misjudge the turn a little. Was for some reason in the center of my lane going around a turn and climbing a small hill. Next thing I know a pickuppops into viewscreaming around the turn from the other direction - much too fast for the turn. He fishtailed and his rear end skidded into my lane as he was loosing control.
I did what I could in the instant I had to do anything, but the truck tail end clipped my mirror turning it backwards. Some green paint on my mirror and a near heart attack was all that I suffered.
After this I will change my turning radius on blind turns to the outer half of the lane!
Good post. Riding position in a curve is one of the questions I got wrong on my Michigan license test. The Riders Edge class taught us to take the inside of the curve where the state of Michigan wants us to be in the center of the lane.
Had a similar incident not long ago...'cept no contact. Turned 'round, chased the li'l punk down and put the fear in him. MF's that drive like no one else is on the road just pisses me off bad! Lost my best ridinbud to an asshat cager like that last July.

Any comments?
Comments? I think you're lucky the truck only hit your mirror and somehow missed your handlebar, which probably would have - well never mind. Save that mirrorwith thepaint transfer as a trophy! Gotta love close calls that let you learn something, eh?

INSIDE is ok on a RIGHT hand turn.
OUTSIDE on a LEFT.
The corect answer actually is: THE FARTHEST AWAY from the other lane, without ending up in the inevitable debris on the edge of the road.
I had a similar experience. Only... the car hit me square and nice. Luckily I was on my car, not on a bike, or perhaps I wouldn't be here.
