I just signed the deal on a 2008 Ultra on Sat.15. I feel good about the deal that I got as I paid under MSRP and had a few things thrown in.
My beef is, that today a driver came into my work today and he lives in the county that the dealer is in. He hands me a newspaper from that county dated Mon. 17. Inside is an ad from that dealer that says: Purchase any new 2008 Harley In-stock and receive $1000 in Genuine Harley Davidson Accessories or Apparel. Fine print says: Must be present couponat time of purchase. Valid on In-Stock bikes only. Expires 3-31-08. No other discounts apply.
I'm upset that the GM knew about this on Sat. and said nothing, knowing that I live in another County and probably would'nt see this ad. My wife emailed this to the GM today and asked if they would honor it. We have not heard from them at all today. I hope that they would notjeopordize a new client or any further clients being word of mouth. But my feeling is they are going to tell me to stick in my tail pipe.
What do I do??
Not much you can do. It states in the ad that you have to present the coupon at the time of purchase. You stated that you bought the bike for under MSRP and had a few things thrown in. Would that not void the "other discounts" statement in the ad?
Sorry to hear you are miffed but, sometimes offers like that are meant to draw from a particular zip code or in this case, the local county. Evidently their sales inside the county are down so, they offer the grand. Of course they would'nt mention it to you, they'd be out the grand. I'm sure they'll tell you that you didn't have it when you came in and made your purchase and most likley won't honor it. It seems a bit underhanded, but, unfortunatley that is the way advertising works sometimes. I would'nt take it personally, you just didn't know before you went in. Glad you got a new scoot though!
Go in and tell them you want to "unsign" the deal and that you'll come back tomorrow with the coupon and try again. It won't work, but you might feel better having tried.
Let it go. You made a deal you could live with on Saturday. You were happy; the dealer was happy. What you learned on Monday is irrelevent. Enjoy your ride!
What are you upset about? Didn't you get your $1000 from the dealer, just in a different form?
You got it for under MSRP and had some "stuff" thrown in. We all know that "stuff" from a HD dealer is not cheap. What was it? a pair of helmets? a jacket or two?
If you paid full asking price and then presented your coupon, you probably would have gotten your "stuff" and maybe a little more, but you would have paid for it with the higher price of the bike.
Do the math...you probably came out just the same as the coupon deal. That's why the GM let your deal go.

Or he may give you more store credit you never no all he can say is no.
