Default **Shifter Options on Fatboy**

I have a friend that is really wanting to buy a Harley...preferably a Fatboy. He was in a car accident and has problems bending and lifting his left leg. He was at the dealership the other day trying out new bikes, but the only thing holding him back from buying a bike is the shifters. He is wondering what his options are for different shifting methods such as switching the rear brake and shifter around. If he could get the shifter on the right side he would be able to shift the bike just fine and if the brake was on the left side, he is able to lift his leg enough to apply the brakes. He doesn't feel he could shift the bike even if the shifter was left on the left side and had the heel shifter. What options are out there for him?? He is VERY thrilled to purchase a Harley and I would hate to see him not able to buy one because of this problem.

Thanks alot in advance, Steve

Look into electric shift kits for Harleys. All he would have to do is put it in 1st.. then use the elec shift from there. With the leg problems, maybe a reverse kit too. A Harley trike may be the way to go too... just a thought....

He should definitely look into the Pingel electric shifter. Also Mike Phillips at Grandeur has designed an "automatic" clutch.

Go to shop on line, then auto clutch for more info.
