Default Laminar Lip Question

As soon as the weather warms up a little more here in WA I'm planning on many 300 mile + day trips and I'm looking for a way to reduce buffeting from my windshield. The laminar lip may be just the ticket. I've done a search in multiple forums and have found some info but not enough to covince me if that is the way to go. If you have one or used one in the past please share your thoughts on their effectiveness. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cutting your shield down will help tremendously if you are getting it bad on your head.
I like the wind in my face, so I cut about 3" off mine and now it hits about my neck. No more buffeting.

I had the lip on for 3 months & it worked OK but I found most of the buffeting was coming from down under. I have a softail std & added wind deflectors on the forks that attach to the quick release brackets for the Switchblade shield. Problem solved & the Lip was removed.

I have tried the lip on many styles and sizes of cruiser windshieldand they are not effective. It is a little helpful of a Road glide at slab speeds but really not worth the loss in vision. I carry it but rarely use it.

The Lip works very well on sport and sport-touring bikes that have swept back windshields and aerodynamic fairings.
Cruiser windshields aretoo far forward and allow too much air to come up from the tank for a smooth ride at high speed.

I've been using a Laminar Lip on both my bikes ('05 Sportster and '06 FJR) for a couple of years. I've found it raises the wind over my head, while allowing me to look over the QD windshield, and makes the ride a lot quieter. I also added the LL side wingson the Sportster, which take the wind off my hands and soft lowers((both, nice in the winter). I still get a bit of side draft up from around the tank, but no buffeting of the helmet. All in all, for me, a good investment.

Thank for the info. I'm more concerned with function over looks. I'll order one today.
