Technical challenge for you geniuses...
Thanks to all of the geniuses that answered my question so far. Many of you know a lot more about popping pipes and backfire than I do. Thanks for the education. I definitely know a lot more about fuel injection than I did before the post. If you will allow me to respond to some of the comments.
4. If Harley engines are so great, why have so many of you complained about hot engines set
in a lean condition out of the factory? If they were so good at injection, wouldn't they have worked this out by now. Do you know of any cars that are sold with such a flaw? They've had more than eight years to get it right. Many of you have bought these later model bikes, and the first thing most of you do is spend about $800 in parts and dyno time to fix the factory's shortcomings. I've read plenty of posts to support this fact. So, get off your high horses and take a chill pill.
Sounds like you already have all the answers. Why was it you asked to begin with?
And we buy Harleys and put up with their shortcomings because, unlike S&S, they mass produce complete motorcycles.

1. I ride a 2000 Roadking, with a Zippers 107" kit, Bored Super G carb with Thunderjet Pro, Fatcats with a big bore baffle. Itputs out 126 hp and 128 ftlbs tq. It hits seventy-three in
second gear all day long. I will be upgrading to an S&S 124" next week. The 107 will be put
on sale. It's been a great engine, I just want more. I'm a nympho that way.
2. One of you mentioned that the Harley engine has to be sensitive to EPA regulations, unlike
S&S. That is a nonsensical comment. If S&S was not building EPA certified engines, they wouldn't sell any engines. The X-wedge I mentioned earlier was developed exclusively to meet
the 2008 CARB requirements, as well as, EPA standards that go into effect in 2010. It will remain an air-cooled engine. The technology is truly advanced, especially when compared to
the V-Rod engine that was premiered in a tv show where we learned that it took eight years
to develop. Harley should be ashamed to admit that it took so long. Notably, the v-rod engine
is water cooled. There are plenty of rumors already floating on this forum that Harley will introduce a new water-cooled engine in 2009. Wow, just in time to meet the 2010 EPA standards. Too bad they can't meet them with an air-cooled engine like S&S, the technology-challenged engine company. Let me remind you that Harley builds a lot of bikes and only two
different kinds of engines for every single bike they make with a lot of after-purchase upgrades that cost more than the original engine in some cases. 95% of what S&S sells is engines. All
kinds of engines (panhead, twin-cam, evolution) in all kinds of sizes (96"-145"). I've left a link
for the x-wedge at the bottom of my comments. I think anyone would admire the new design.
3. The same guys that are portraying me as some kind of traitor because I respect the power
available through S&S are the same guys that are buying $1,200 RC Components wheels, $800
Performance Machine six-piston brakes all around, $800 Mustang seats, $900 non-Harley exhausts, $400 Power Commanders, pricey Michelins, hundreds in Kuryakyn chrome, and on and on. But yet somehow, these guys are true Harley guys? Who are you kidding? You're changing
more noticeably different-looking **** on your bike than the small S&S logo on the heads. Twin
cams look like twin-cams.Most people would have to look mighty close to see that I was a traitor. They can see you coming from a mile away with your accessories and 21" non-stock custom front wheels. So, will the real traitors please stand up? (P.S. I've got all this extra stuff too.)

5. If you could not grasp the humor in my comment about calling you guys bastards, after specifically requesting no name calling, you are brain dead and probably very boring. To all of the true geniuses out there, thanks again for making me a smarter person.

You asked a question to the membership about lean or rich causing decel popping and you strongly suggested anyone saying lean didn't know what they are talking about,, I asked you not to make this a S&S motor verses Harley motor,, thus the subject matter for geniuses brought forth by a know it all, that just want's to push S&S motors and down Harley motors or folks that disagree with ya,,, I think you have the answer you asked for.
