I don't know about apes, but our female expert riding instuctor came blasting in on a fat boy with apes up to about her eyebrows. She liked them I guess.
She could make that fb dance among the cones, believe me.
Well, Reaper doesn't sport super-tall apes, just 13"ers, but that puts my hands at just below shoulder height. For me that's perfect, and I can ride all day in comfort. Low speed maneuvering is far easier than it was with the stock drag bars, and the apes put me in a much better seating position - the drags killed my back after about 2 hours. Not to mention, they just look damned COOL!
The fuzz around here tend to leave Cruisers alone most of the time. Never had any problems, but i only have the mini apes on my bike so far. I guess ill see when i get 16's.
Did you really say Fuzz???
What time are you and Huggy Bear going down to the disco to listen to some ABBA....
likely the number 1 most written ticket in florida is for apes. a big safety issue. if you can't make parking lot manuvers without taking your hands off the controls you don't need apes. hands above the heart for any period of time is very dangerous.
This is no doubt the most stupid statement i have ever seen on this forum!!!

Apparently having your head above your heart isn't doing you a lot of good.
First time I've ever heard of someone actually getting stopped for apes in Florida. Probably just a cop having a bad day and figured he'd pick on someone.
I have 16s on my Deluxe and love them. No experience in Fl. but I have never been pulled over for them.
And to all the experts who have never owned them....THEY ARE EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE.
I will always own a Softail and I will always own a bike with apes. Others may come and go but these two things will be constant in my garage as long as I can ride. Nothing says Harley more than good sounding pipes and a set of apes.
