Has anyone been pulled over for their apes?? I'm in SW Florida and was pulled over and issued a written warning. My bars are at shoulder level sitting at a stop. Handgrips are below. What gives??? The Fl statute says handlebars/handgrips at or below shoulder height while in a normal riding position.
Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem?
likely the number 1 most written ticket in florida is for apes. a big safety issue. if you can't make parking lot manuvers without taking your hands off the controls you don't need apes. hands above the heart for any period of time is very dangerous.
Many states have similar laws.
1st off I do believe in freedom of choice.
I never understood why anyone would want the Ape Hangers other than to test the law, they don't seem at all comfortable to me.
I notice that many people with them seem awkward at slow speeds and in tight turns (like in parking lots). The bars require them to stretch and shift seating position. I also think that you have less strength and dexterity with your arms raised.

I don't understand this sentence. Are you implying that you need to take your hands of the controls to make "parking lot manoeuvers" when you have apes? If so, I don't. I have 14" bars and I can hold both grips with the bars locked full right or left and ride in circles all day long.
Also, why are hands above the heart VERY dangerous? If that's the case, we should change the way we get people's attention when we want to ask a question ... "KIDS, put your hands down! It's very dangerous"

check out were you and most people you know have their hands positioned while driving there car. apes are great with back problems.
maybe I shoud have specified...for those who HAVE and LIKE Apes...elaborate on your experiences. Frankly, I coud give a s*@t what someone who doesn't even have apes much less someone who doesn't like them has to say. Really you shouldn't say anything since you woudn't know firsthand.
CUZ ...I DON'T CARE IF YOU LIKE 'EM OR NOT!!
