I have an 06 wide glide with the stage 1 kit and SE 2 slip-ons. I was wondering about something...
Before I bought my Harley, I had a Yamaha vstar and I'm pretty certain it was running lean. It would pop pretty often...tended to do it more when it was cold, but it would still do this after it warmed up. I didn't worry about it too much, but I'm sure it wasn't great for the bike.
With my Harley, it's much different. I've noticed that when I'm running at low rpms (pretty much in any gear) and not giving it gas, I get a sort of gurgling/sputtering, and I was wondering if this is just a normal thing or if the bike is, indeed, running a bit lean. I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but this is my first harley, so the sounds are still new to me.
Any comments are really appreciated.
Thanks.
It's running lean and I assume that they put the HD Download in with the stage 1. That's the problem. The stage 1 download does not work in the 06's. To really fix the problem you need to install a SERT (Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner) and have it dyno'd. That's the only thing that will make it run right and it will handle all the mods you have now and any you get in the future.
I am not an expert, but many threads suggest that if you have added SE II slip ons with the HD download, you may need to go back to your stock AC to richen things up.
