its a mystery. the bashing is just between harley and everyone else.
how do ya figure?
i mean, hondas, aprillias, suzuki, bmw, husquevarna, ktm, kawasaki, yamaha, and everyone else seem to get along pretty well.
how do you suppose they all get along so well, yet suddenly turn into bashers whenever a harley is mentioned? after all everyone here knows that harley riders never bash other brands, so its not somehow really a problem with harley riders.
so its really baffling. why does everyone else get along so well?
I have to disagree. The VTX is ALL about imitating HD. Just for the sake of argument; if Harleydidn't make a Vtwin, but instead made anextremelypopular BMW type motordo you think Honda would have developed the VTX? .
I believe to a large extent this is true. remember when harley wanted to patend the HD sound?...they got sued by the metrics (and didn't pursue it further)...Why?...the metrics wanted to horn in on harleys heritage and success... since then the metrics have competed with harley by increasing cubes ( my bikes has bigger and badder ballsthan yours) thats the only way they can compete because they just don't have the history or "soul" of HD....it's the same thing with porsche or ferrari...the japanese just can't duplicate their soul...as far as the bashing, i think people are upset because they think they ride a technologically superior machine and those arrogant HD SOBs won't acknowledge that...and to that I saygood for you,I just don't care
Yeah- I hear the occasional bashing... or someone feels they have to justify to me why they bought a metric instead of a HD. I usually interrupt them halfway through their speal and just say, Yeah your right, good luck with that....what is it? Really bugs them.
I've been on other forums and yes the HD bashing is heavy, but then there justpissed that there girlfriends and wifes stare at the HD's as they go by and not at the Vulcan that they own. Its like pecker envy.

I will say one thing though. If there was a guy out there like the owner of the VTXOA (Hal Greenlee) selling HD parts, I'd be really happy.
I agree with John. Hal and his whole company are a class act in my book. I bought lots of VTX parts from them and even bought a Gold Wing from them a couple years ago. Flew into Pittsburgh, PA, caught a shuttle to the Ohio store and the rode back to Utah (after a stop on the east coast and the Dragon). They were great people to deal with, and if they sold Harley then they would have my business without hesitation.
As for bashing ... I haven't been on a brand or in a discussion group yet that didn't have its share of bashers. That goes for this forum as well. Some people just aren't happy until they can bash what someone else has. For the most part I ignore them, but sometimes it's fun just to see the fur fly.
The way I see it there will always be those jealous types that will bash Harleys for their own reasons.Their weak excuse for not owning one.Do yourself a favor and don't give them any credit by reading their posts. We know what they are missing!

I've been hopping around loads of cruiser forums as I slowly take my time trying to find the right bike for myself... It seems to me that theres equal amounts of bashing on all sites whether they are harley or metric... The one difference that stands out to me so far is that the metric "side" slags the actual bike and the company that makes it "its too expensive for what it is", "old age technology", etc... The Harley side slags the actual rider "they are just jealous", "they wish they could afford something like my Harley", etc. Its almost like with the Harley side it ain't about the bike but more about the guy riding. So much so that I'm always seeing things like grouping whose a real biker and whos a rich urban and all that on this site. On the metric sites I can't really say I've run into much of that. I think its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other... all as bad as each other, and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter.
Just an observation and I don't claim to have seen it all.
