As stated many times before, it doesn't hurt to keep it around. One bonus, for me anyways, some insurance companies around around my parts offer you discounts if your part of a motorcycle club or group. Saves me 25% a year. I'd say it pays for itself. Not to mention getting access to HOG only events. Sure makes demo days alot easier if you get your own day.
My HOG Chapter is a good bunch of people for the most part. The dealership is very very involved. We ride, and eat, then ride. The dealerships gives us stuff that has helped my pocket.
Coupons for free tire install, 20% off tires, (my new Metz) coupons for free bike rental of my choice. Wife and I took a Road King out for a 250 mile day. I kept hitting my legs on her floorboards, yeah I did it 3 times,,the last time it hurt, so I learned to get my feet up when I left a stopped position.[:@]My HOG Chapter does rides like "Born To Be Wild", where we go as a group to a senior center, help serve them breakfast, then we sit and eat, and talk to the folks, then we give them Harley rides, and you should see their faces light up!! One older gal was 97 years young, she had to be lifted on and off the bike. That was one of my favorite days, and rides. We do blood drives, toy drives, donate to the less fortunate with a ride to a local town here every year. So my personal opinion is I get alot more out of the HOG Chapter than I can ever give back, but I'll keep offering my time in attemp to even it up. My Chapter does the "West Coast Thunder" ride every year here in California, ride to Riverside National Cemetary ,, (west coast version of DC's Rolling Thunder) where last year there was over 5000 bikes. I will help with that as well.
So to me, HOG is OK for now.

Man, that's nice. Your dealer takes care of you guys out there. Ours is a bit stingy, not even a discount on parts... the only thing they've done recently is open the shop one night to show Wild Hogs on the big screen in the showroom. That was nice, but I'd rather see them show how much they appreciate us helping them with all the crap we volunteer for thru the year.
The HOG chapter is great, but the dealer leaves a lot to be desired.
My Stator whent out in Mitchel SD on the way home from Sturgis in 94,it was around 3 pm.I called Sioux Falls HD and told em I was a HOG Member and in 3 hours there was a p/u with trailer there for me.They got it fixed asp,had a hotel room for me and a map of the local resturants and bars.Drove me and my gear to the hotel....
I personally like HOG for the roadside assistance (never had to use it, but good to know I have it!), and for the Fly N Ride program. If you only use Fly N Ride once (annually), it more than pays for the membership! Besides, $45 a year isn't really much when you get down to it, especially with the number of parts/accessories we tend to buy for our bikes!
Besides theroadside assistance plan andmagazines, I don't find much value in HOG.Localchapter are somewhat political from what I've heard, and none of the area dealers offer HOG members discounts. I'll likelyswitch my roadside plan to AAA when my HOG membership expires.
Well as the Head Road Captain with our local chapter I use the trip planner all the time. I would rather us is then any other. It allows you to save your trip and also allows some other people the use of what you trip. I know that it takes a little to get use to it but once you figure it out. You will use it all the time..

Think about what you said...it's their site, it's their product, what would you like their site to promote, Hondas? Read the instructions on the trip planner. I've found plenty of good stuff on the site. If you buy a mertric, you don't even get a ****you package. You bought a Harley Davidson, you joined the club. So what if you don't like the incentives, you should have read about it before you signed up. Quit yer bitchin'.

I've used the roadside assistance, but have never attended any meetings, rides or whatever, so was figuring I would rely on alternative roadside cover in future (I already had thatanyway, but got the HOG cover free for a year with thebike) and not renew my HOG membership when it runs out. Felt it was quite a lot of money just for a couple of magazines.
But... I then bought some parts to complete the Stage 1 on my bike and realised that I got more money off in discount for being a HOG member than it costs for the annual membership subscription. Since I'll most likely buy more stuff for the bike next year, Ithink I have changed my mind and will most probably now renew my membership when it comes due. It should pay for itself.
