Default HD Jacket

I went, I saw, I liked, I bought. Needing a jacket, I bought the Men’s reflective leather skull jacket. Double (top and bottom) metal zippered front. Difficult to line-up and get it going, but sales girl (yes she was hot) said it will get easier with use. Well, sore thumb, stuck in jacket once (i.e. had to slip it off), need to push, pull, bend to get it going, etc. For the money, I feel like I should have an easier time getting in my jacket. I mentioned my issue where I purchased it and they did not seem to think I had a real gripe; I did not push and was able to get it working easier, but this morning same issues. Any thoughts on my luck with an exchange for a replacement?

Ok, I can't take it; I have to go to the dealer and ask for a new jacket. I hope I have success.

Get the hot sales girl to help you zip it up. Have her slip in from behind and reach around grasp the zipper firmly, etc., etc.

I had the worst experience with exchanging a jacket. The zipper on mine broke 2 different times. First time, the handle thingy on the zipper fell apart as soon as I got it home. They had to ship it in to their warranty dept to get it fixed. 2 months later and no jacket back, I was getting cold. So I went in and bitched and griped several times. Finally got it back fixed. Then 3 weeks after that, the zipper would not stay closed, it would split after i zipped it up. So I took it back again. Waited another month, (again warranty dept.)...Warranty people have to decide wether to refund the money or not. I finally told them to keep the damn thing, and give me my money back. It took some haggling, but they did it finally. I bought forward controls with the money (better spent).

I would never buy another HD jacket. They have no exchange or return policy (at least this dealer didn't). I was too nice and should have told them to keep it the first time. I went to a local motorcycle shop, bought a nice heavy jacket for 1/2 the price and couldn't be happier.

Good luck.

And yes they are very expensive, good luck, all depends on who waits on you at the dealer.

My wife bought a HD jacket. I'm not sure what it's called but a style I think of as a traditional motorcycle jacket. The holes in the belt start after the zipper. We thought they just put the wrong belt on the jacket. They tried contacting HD and they said, no, that's the right belt and they aren't going to do anything about it. The only way you could use the belt is if you were too big to zip up the jacket. Thankfully the dealer felt differantly and sent it to a leather shop to be shortened, more hole put in or whatever.

When I got my bike they gave me a cheap little keyring, but it seemed a neat idea, had a d-ring. That made it handy to hook on my belt loop or on the ring on my chaps. It was cheap plastic though so I was worried it would dry out, wear out and break. So I looked at what they had for sale. They have something similar so I buy it. I put the key and fob on the ring and, how strange, the fob barely moves on the ring. Harley fob, harley keyring, they don't really work together. I go to unlock the forks and the keyring pops loose. It's just held on by a snap and just lining up the key to the keyhole pops the snap loose. Oh yes, that would be great, ride down the road with that flapping in the wind only to find I have no keys at the next stop. So I superglued the snap shut

It gets to me, overpriced and disfunctional for actually riding a bike or, in many cases, simply using. It seems to me they need to move that crap out of the dealership into freestanding stores to people don't get confused and think that stuff is for actually riding a bike. It would be one thing if it were basically the classic idea. Their customers have trouble finding stuff appropriate to riding so they make stuff available cheap to promote the sale of motorcycles. Most likely how they got in this business to start with. Instead they command a premium and for a premium I expect exceptional quality and design rather than simply a friggin HD logo on it and let the buyer beware.

Insist that they exchange the jacket. If the clerk will not, go to the manager, if the manager will not, talk to the owner. If you don't give up, they will. At least that has always been my experience. However, I usually deal with a dealership where the owner is present almost every day and is very good.

Good news. Got the Jacket replaced. Spoke with my bike salesman (where I would normally start with an issue for a car) and he said, let's go see what they can do, it's under warranty. Ladies mentioned that we could get another one; I said they had one at their other store (tried it on and tested the zipper the day before and had them hold it). Everyone said Ok and that the jacket would be in the store in 2 days for pick-up. Three days later I had a message to call and discuss the jacket. I was told it was a warranty issue and that I would have to send it off and wait 4 to 6 weeks to see if they could fix it; if not, then I could get a replacement. To keep things short; I said that was not what I was told and that I wanted them to keep their word and replace it. She said she couldn't; I said ok, there are people being shot at to defend our country and that a jacket was not that important, so I would bring it in and have them fix or replace it, because it made me mad every time I put it on. I then told her to also cancel my order for my Fat Bob. She mentioned that she didn't want me not to get a bike; I said don't worry I will still get a bike. She asked to try her manager again; I said if she could get it done without mentioning that I was canceling my order then fine, but not if the only reason was the bike purchase. Ten minutes later and I was told to come get my jacket.

My concern was that if I already had the bike I would be out of a jacket for 4 to 6 weeks (she was honest and said that she did mention canceling the bike order). I spoke with the GM (part of owner family by marriage) and bluntly stated that I felt like if I already had the bike I would be out of luck. He said he disagreed because I would not have let it go and would eventually either have the salesman or myself talking to him and he would have honored what I was told regardless of the policy. I believe him so I am moving forward with my purchase (if the damn thing would get here). Sorry for waiting so long for the update and the long winded conclusion.
