You're initiative to come on this forum and try to learn more about your fiance's interest
is more than most would do.
Ray.
. Some of the nicest people I know Ive met while riding. Its sort of like a big brotherhood.. My girlfriend was in the same position you are in now.. untill she got a few rides under her belt, now, just the other day she was begging me to finish my winter modifications so we can go for a ride. Riding is a thing either you will fall in love with, or you wont..theres only 1 way to find out.. I think its awesome your willing to go this far to join a forum & to learn about the lifestyle. BTW your cute as a button, hes a lucky guy

That said, my number one comment would be that, despite all the bravado everyone's spouting about "nothing comes betweena man and his machine" and the like, if he's this obsessed at this stage, you need to run, not walk, away. At this stage of the game, he ought to still be trying to win you... or make sure he "keeps" you, since he's already "won" your hand. You need to be the number one thing in his eyes, his heart and his life or you may as well not get married.
Now, since you're trying and presumably he is, too, I'd say you're on the right path. Some things you can do besides listening to other obsessed people on this forum:
1. Take a basic rider's course. For two or three hundred bucks, they provide you with everything, including the bike. Learn to ride. If you like it, great, get your own bike!
2. Ride with him. Even if you don't like it as much as him (and assuming you don't absolutely hate it!), you're at least doing something together. An example is that my wife really doesn't like to fly. Actually, it's not so much that she dislikes it, but she has irrational (self admitted) fears about the wings falling off. Even so, she'll go up with me now and then because she knows how much I love it.
3. Accept that he has a hobby that you don't share and incorporate it into alone time for each of you where he can go ride and you can do something you like that he doesn't. Of course, you'll have to sort out the money issue so neither of you spends too much on your various hobbies, but that's not all that hard. And if it consumes all his time, then I go back to my original point.
That's about it, I guess. He's already a lucky guy because you're trying. What's he doing?
