Well Danni, at least you try. Some women send text messages like this lil' number . . .
"So f**king tired of you and your f**king Harley. I don't give a f**k about that bike and never ask me to ride on that piece of s#!t again since that bike and your Harley world preceeds everything!"
Welcome from Iowa Danni, glad your giving it a shot. Have him buy a new seat for starters. Then go on a few rides maybe a poker run. The more people you get to know the more fun it is. For the most part everyone if very friendly and fun to be with. Around us there are towns that host riders in the evening, they have cheap grilled food and beer. The pretty much shut down the main street for all the parking. These are also alot of fun. Maybe try an overnight rally somewhere. I do give him credit to want to learn how to ride by himself first though. Hopefully for you he will feel comfortable with you on the back soon. Even more thanks for serving Deb and I pray for you and your comrades daily
Well...sorry i could not answer any of you or thank you for your advise... but i am in the military as well so duty called!
Now my comments:
1.The reason i had 3 of the same posts was because i didnt understand how to "post" the proper way until my fiance explained it was someone else post.
2. To all the respectful gentlemen who commented me... i do appreciate your advise...espcially some of you old timers who actually understand what i am talking about. THANK YOU!!
3. To the pervs--- need not comment back things you would not want any other man saying to your significant other ( ** Remember ** my fiance is on this site as well and he can read )
4. To all the Lovers of their Rides and their wives who love just as much as they do.... i am making an attempt... i am from the heart of south philly, not many people have HD-- they are more of the crotch rocket types. And michael doesnt have a 2nd. seat yet for me. Its not so much michael i am worried about its the crazy vehicle drives that make me nervous. but obviously back roads would be a good start off!
5. To my few Lonely/Angry/Women Hating/Cant tell me what to do Riders-- in a relationship you have to meet in the middle...a give and take kind of thing....
In my attempt to get to know the bike I did help michael to washthe bike!! while it wasnt the funnest thing i have ever done, but at least we did something together... 2 attemps ( complete )
Best of luck to you both. Get him that seat, get on it, and dont move till he takes you for a ride
Don't get upset. Most are just joking around including me. As others have said, get him that seat and get on it. My wife gets upset when I go for a ride and don't take her. It is together time that we both love and plan to do a lot more of.
Get on, let the wind blow and the roads turn you WILL love it.
Go shopping together for that perfet two-up seat and go for a ride. I love having my wife ride on the back of my bike as much as she loves riding. I asked her if she would like me to get her her own bike and she told me she enjoys riding with me. That's ok with me.
I had a bike before a car and I can honestly say that it's always been in me. You either love bikes or you don't. There is nothing that my wife or anyone else could ever say or do that would make me change how I feel about bikes.
Enjoy your time together, ride, meet people out on the road. You'll soon see what the "obsession" is all about. ****, I'm 42 years old and the sound of a Harley stops me in my tracks like a 5 year old kid looking at a damn firetruck...lol

I hate to say it but man this sounds like trouble. You aren't into a integral part of his lifestyle. That is a huge point of contention for SOME people. Maybe for you guys it won't matter but I know I couldn't hang out with a girl, much less marry her, if she wouldn't ride or if she had a problem with me doing it.
Well, personally, I wouldn't expect the arguement it's too dangerous for her, but not so for you to float. The distilled essence of self-respect is that you make the same decisions for yourself that you would for one you love. You seem to be failing miserably here on that count. You would, most likely, make it much further in this arguement to argue you just want some guy time out with the guys than that it's too friggin dangerous for her. That's something you tell your child because your word is law and it doesn't matter whether it's rational or reasonable. It is foolhardy to expect that to work with your woman.
