I named mine SADIE, even got a vanity plate for her. I named her that because I bought her on a Sat morning and had to have my beloved 8 year old boxer SADIE put down that afternoon. Cancer is a terrible thing. Sadie would always chase me (on my other bike)down the drive barking and trying to bite the front tire. She would have loved to go for a ride, and she did. She was my first passenger, so to speak. I brought her ashes home on the bike and I have a picture of her in the saddlebag so we can alway ride together.
2001 FXDXT Harley T-Sport: Hooligan (KTM-riding friend saw it and said, damn, that looks like some kind of hooligan bike, and the name stuck)
2007 Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom: Stork (Harley-riding friend saw it and said, damn, that's the goofiest looking bike I ever saw - tall, skinny, big beak, little legs, looks like some kind of stork, and the name stuck)
I just named mine last night as a matter of fact. Put some neat medieval type dragon decals on her tank and named her "Saphira". It's the name of the dragon in the Eragon movie and just seems to fit her. As for helmets, here in MA, you have to wear a helmet and it has to be DOT approved.
