Ok, show's over folks, move along now, nothing really new here people. I just needed to vent and thank the stars above that I know how to swerve. I mean really floorboard swerve. Today, I made it by inches going around a cage driven by a cellular spaceman. When you are in a circle intersection, there are rules about which lane goes where. They are usually clearly indicated and were. That is, if you bother to look instead of dialing your cell phone. The short version, we are just fine, bike and I. It just tuned me up a bit.
And as the riding season is upon us, it was a stark reminder to increase my radar for those out there whose inattention could mean clobberin' time.
I wonder, is there anything we can really do about cell phone distraction? Are new laws effective?
Anyway, here's a wish for all our safety. Ride well; ride safe! [sm=burnout.gif]
RE: Almost got clobbered today or It's clobberin' time!
Hello Vintage, I know the feelin' man. I had a close one last summer. I was going into a rather sharp right hand turn and here comes some dude (oncoming) taking the corner half in my lane. I swerved real hard and my left forward control footpeg scraped the entire side of his car. My foot was knocked off the peg on impact. I pulled over to the shoulder and thought my heart was coming thru my chest! That dude never even stopped! The only damage was a scraped footpeg and a sore foot! You talk about a wakeup call! I still shake when I think about it. Boy, you sure have to be careful out there. There's alot of crazy drivers you gotta watch out for.
Have a safe summer!
