I see some post and replies around that reference a biker wannabe, OK what do you feel you do that makes you a REAL biker ?? I see people making fun of how others dress and act and would just like to know how a "real biker" is supposed to dress & act.
with out reading any of the other replies (because it will all be a bunch of BS) A "real biker" is exactly that... a real biker. someone that actually rides their motorcycle instead of letting it sit in the garage under a cover... that is a real biker!
You know what makes me laugh is how all these "real Bikers" make fun of all the guys on sport bikes that wear full leathers... you know the one's they call "power rangers"... when all these "real bikers" spend 20 minutes "suiting up" in there black leather jacket, black leather crotchless pantaloons, black leather boots, black leather gloves and black leather band ana's...on a 90 degree dayjust to ride 10 miles to a bar...Oh and don't forget your fo leather half helmetnow those guys are fools!
There is a girl In Indy, Maybe a 115 pounds or so that wears a pink leather jacket, a couple of years ago she showed up a a bike night with a sport bike she just bought and I have seen that girl out riding even in snow flurries when almost no one else was out riding. She showed up last Wensday with a new Hyabusa, or whatever, but that youngster is serious about riding.
There is another old guy around here with a GoldWing that looks like it has a half million miles on it and I have seen him out when even I was parked. I don't know if they are "bikers" or if you are or if I am. I don't know if a bunch of old fat guys dressing up for Sunday rides are "fools" either.
Most 'Real Bikers' are out riding and/or working on their bikes instead of sitting in front of a 'puterdebating in cyberspace what a 'real biker' is, or isn't.
This post is just so much over kill its ridiculous. Today biker vs. old school biker blah, blah, blah, blah,. If you are TRULY concerned about what others think about you or how they look at you while riding then frickin stop riding. All I know is I've been riding for over 40 years. Never once wondered what others thought of me when I ride. I don't give a rats azz. Have I helped people with their bikes? Sure...Does that qualify me for anything? Nope. All I know is I enjoy riding. I haverode all OVERthe country. Still don't think it makes me any better or different then the next person I might have something in common with. So, bottom line...Ride your scoot, enjoy it, be an individual and you won't have to worry about what catagory you fall into. Power to the People!!
Just met a great guy at the dealer yesterday. Had a 2000 RK since new. He loved it to bits and showered it with every piece of chrome that the motor company had to offer. He loved his bike to no end and spent endless hours polishing and looking at his ride. He had never taken a real trip on it, the miles on the OD were super low. This guy was definitely not a biker, but he loved his bike as much as any real biker.
Back to the thread, It's pretty simple, if you ride the living hell out of your bike at every opportunity and get in mega miles, it doesn't matter what gloves you choose to wear, you are a real biker. If not, no matter how well intentioned, then you are something else.
