I use the technique taught by Harris-(forum member who seems to have disappeared)

He said the way the motor officers are taught is to mount from the high side (right) It works great for me, just step onto the floorboard and swing your left leg over.

I use what I used to call "the Goldwing shuffle".
I forward kick with my right leg to put my foot on the
seat, then hop on my left leg to continue putting my right leg over to the
right floorboard.
On the Goldwing...there was a drivers backrest.
On the Harley, I have no room for oneso it is a bit easier to mount up.
Watch other riders and the way they do it.....can be funny sometimes.

On the ultra classic, I get on and off from the right side. Pick up the left leg and slide in the saddle. Just the reverse to get off. I have tried all ways and for me that is the easiest. Have a friend that is over 300 lbs and a bad left leg, he puts down the passenger floorboard on the right side and uses it as a step to get on the bike. If it works do it.

how can you get up on the high side? Most bikes I know of will happily tip over if you step on a right side floorboard while they rest on their stand.

You gotta throw a leg high enough to get over it, regardless of your personal style.

Isn't this kind of like asking how you get into a vehicle other than opening the door and getting in?

My right side bag cover shows where my foot doesn't quite clear everytime.Thats a part of what it is all about.Bikes need tatoo's also.
+1 on the right bag tattoo. I have a few scars on the seat where I was too damn lazy to lift my leg high enough. Glad I'm not a dog.
