Headed up there Sunday and stayed 3 nites. Weather was perfect, by the time I made it back home to Hillsborough NC yesterday I had logged over 1,100 miles. I've been up there a few times before, but rode lotsa great roads I had never been on before.
I highly recomend this place to stayin Maggie Valley. Great older couple has run it for 20 yrs. Nice clean rooms, good prices, grills and picnic tables around.
I would love to "early retire" up there....just gotta find some rich bastard toinvest ina little hotel and let me live there and run it! http://www.maggievalleyinn.com/html/n_c_may.html
You are ready for retirement if you enjoyedstaying in Maggie Valley...
Glad you had a good, safe trip.
Good chow, good reasonable rooms, couple decent bars, biker friendly is an understatement, AWSOME riding....what more can ya ask for?
My group of friends like a little more action when we get of the bikes. I can say I got a kick out of the stray goat that greeted me the next morning when I walked out of the hotel lobby...
We went through there a few weeks ago and stopped only to check out the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. Friggin' awesome! Hope you checked it out while you were there.
that area is one of the few to realize that bikers are not trash and have money!! most of the businesses that cater to the travelers have "bikers welcome" signs posted.

That's not what the guy who owns the museam told us. He says that he and Maggie Valley have had a love/hate relationship and that when he closes down sometime later year, they'll be glad because it brings toomanybikers into their quiet community. Sounds like thebusiness owners need to have a talk with the city council...
Maggie Valley is an awesome community. On a trip I took a few years ago I had to choose whether I wanted to "Ride the Dragon" or visit Maggie Valley. If you want to get crazy, do the Dragon or the Snake or somewhere loud. Keep the peacefull communities peaceful.
I would hate to see a 1000 hot-dogs burning up the town. Sometimes for everyone to get along bikers have to go their separate way. I might never see the fall colors but I won't have to wait for 1 hour to get out of town.
